I guess she took the pink pill...

Lana Wachowski

The director of "The Matrix" and the highly-anticipated film "Cloud Atlas" has become the first major Hollywood director to publicly come out as transgender.

Lana Wachowski has revealed her transition while promoting her new film, the New York Post reported.

Lana, formerly known as Larry, has been transitioning from a man to a woman for years now, the Post also reported. This new clip for "Cloud Atlas," starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry, appears to her first public appearance since transitioning.

In the trailer, Lana introduces the film with her brother, Andy Wachowski, and director Tom Tykwer.

"Hi, I'm Lana," she says with her hair styled in pink dreadlocks. (from the Huffington Post)

The smile just does it for me. I'm so happy for her.

all types

We need to remember that transgender people come in all types of colors and shapes. She is probably just exploring herself and a friend of mine reminded me since I just started transitioning that I am going through puberty all over again and need to learn like any nine year old how to dress and what looks good on me. People have to right to be their own individual and it is what makes them so special.

It is a long road ahead but I will finally become who I should be.

I deleted some comments

They were every bit as bad as the crap comments made that people here complain about when TGs come out or are outed on other media. Give the benefit of the doubt, people because I don't want to have to police this kind of thing. No one gets to decide HERE that someone else is not really TG and ridicule and demean someone who comes out. Famous people are also human.

Unfortunately, when I deleted the comments, replies to them were also deleted. Most of the replies were thoughtful but without the comments they were responding too, they did not have a context. My apologies to the thoughtful commenters.

Hugs,
Erin

= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.

Seriously

Sigh... wish I could say I'm surprised. I think I'm glad I missed it. Saw that pic and the heading and had a little laugh, I'm still smiling. Go for it girl.

Open Secret

It was no surprise. She has dressed androgynous for years if not outright feminine. As the article said, it was a slow transition. She even had the surgery before announcing anything and even then was only along with her and her brother's new film.

Personally I can't say much about the pink dreads, but you know them Hollywood types, Flamboyant.

I do agree with 'Drea. That smile says it all.

Let's be fair. Just because

Let's be fair. Just because someone dresses Androngenously or Femininely doesn't necessarily mean they're Transsexual. As I said, the average person does dress Androgenously in regular life, especially women given there isn't the stigma on dresses or skirts.
As for Lana I've heard contentious comments, the big one being an argument that there are a portion of males that are drawn towards transitioning but may not necessarily be Transsexual. It has to do with the extreme sexualization we have of the female form in society currently. I can't remember the name given to the condition however. I'm only reporting on the supposed argument so please don't shoot the messenger.
As for the pic I immediately knew it was dreads and scratched my head about the scrunchie comment from Andrea till I read the article. Bad choice for White people to get dreads, cool as they look. From all I've heard you have to get your hair extremely dirty to pull it off. Also, if you want to get rid of them I remember seeing a person's hair cut off pretty thoroughly.

Congratulations to her, but

Congratulations to her, but she seriously needs a new hair stylist.

Is it me, the photo, or does it look like she has pink yarn in her hair?

= )

Auntie Drea, are you sure she didn't have the pink pill in her all along?

yes, that smile.

Says it all. She's clearly much happier than she'd ever been before.

Good for her!
