Road to Myself - 29: Court Date
Annette MacGregor

Normally one would be a tad nervous about a court date. Why do I find myself anticipating it rather than nervous?

Why? Actually, I suspect many of you may have already guessed... But, I now have a court date for the hearing on my name change! Yes, I'm more than a little bit excited about this! :-) The notice has also been sent off to a newspaper (the largest distribution in our area of the state). It will be published prior to the court date... I'm hoping no friends notice the bit... As that would kinda let things out of the bag... We'll deal with it when it happens.

But, yes, I'm happy that things continue to move along.

On another front, the family finally agreed on the preferred dates for my FFS... And the selected surgeon is out! (He's out for a week either side, too...) So, plans have to shift a wee bit . My choices are two days BEFORE my 9th grader finishes school (not a good choice) or three weeks later. So, doing the math, it's probably only a short delay, but it feels big. And, the decision was to delay about two weeks (take the doc's first avaiable slot following his return from vacation.

Other than that, things continue to move along fairly smoothly on the work and home fronts with respect to transition planning. So, that is a good thing!

Thanks for reading... I was excited, so couldn't resist sharing the news. As always, comments, questions, etc. are welcome.

Thanks for reading.

I'm glad things are moving

I'm glad things are moving along for you. Having someone read about the name change in the paper happened to me, or rather my sister. One of her friends has the job of reading all the public notices in the newspapers from over the state (I think she works for a lawyer) and she recognized my name and called my sis wanting to know WTH. However, when you take the step of changing your name, and publicly declaring yourself, it's a moot point by then, isn't it? Those who need to know are clued in, and as for everyone else, if they can't deal then so what?, eh?

In my case...

In my case - not quite the case... Though, those most likely to be asked ARE in the know.

Due to various issues, my path is not "normal" (if such a word makes sense for any of us)... I'm going full time, getting getting my FFS and will have name change all effective about the same time... And, work has a "process" that does not include "advance notification" to many people...

So... Yes, it's possible for that "call to a friend" with "what the heck..."

Thanks for your comment.

Hi Annette,

Wow, things are moving along nicely. I'm sure that even with the slight delay with FFS the date will soon be upon you, and you will wonder where all the time has gone.

I look forward to hearing that your name change went smoothly.

Hugs
