Looking up at the Brooklyn sky, and what do I see? Fighter jets flying overhead. Not very high or fast, either. Loud things. Nothing on the news yet.

Probably nothing happening, but remember, folks! You read it here first.

Opening Day celebration, probably. Yankees open vs. Tigers at home tonight.

Baseball!!! You may remember my distant cousins...

Vince, Dom and of course, Joe DiMaggio. What you may not remember was that they had a younger brother, Giovanni, who played with the Fort Wayne Damsels in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League in 1954. She played under the name Vanni Lomonico as a shortstop and finished her career in 1965 as a coach for the New York Hankies. She had her surgery in Copenhagen in 1953. This is her baseball card, which was one of a a series that was included with every box of Toni Permanent Wave. Keeping with the family tradition that still exists today, Vanni showed every one there is indeed, "Crying in Baseball!"

Yes, baseball. The Yankees

Yes, baseball. The Yankees home opener was at 1:05 PM, and they had a flyover before the National Anthem was played.

I live in the N/S flight

I live in the N/S flight path for the runways at Tinker Air Base, so I hear jets of several kind often. They make approaches in practice flights a lot, both fighters (which take less time getting their noise overwith), AWACS planes (some of which are active around Libya directing AC attacks and marking targets so not so many around now), and stealth bombers and some "fighters" as well, and lots of support planes like mid air refuelers. Mostly the base is supposed to be a support base for AWACS and some tankers, but the air national guard flies it's fighters out of it, and they repair the bombers and do the flights on them to see if they are repaired. Busy skys around here though.

Why Worry?

So long as they're not dropping anything or making a gun run, what's there to worry about?

Got a Libyan tank in your driveway or something?

Well, See... It's Like This...

This has happened a few times before, and over the last 10 years or so, it's mostly been fighter jets scrambled in conjunction with terrorist scares. I don't know what they're planning to do with the jets when they do this, but my worry had more to do with why there were fighters flying low near our harbor (you know, the one with the Statue of Liberty and the financial district of NY in it?) than the fact of the planes themselves.

Anyway, here we are, several hours later, and nothing happened. So, never mind!

Something happened

The Yankees won. Our Red Sox start tomorrow. I don't understand this - Spring training is over, the Boys of Summer are starting their season and we're supposed to get a foot of snow on April Fool's Day???

Krunch!

¡Gasp! How wonderful to hear from you! You positively dropped out of sight there for a while.

Welcome back, Hon!
