I am considering posting my Autobiography to this site. I wrote it back in 2004 as a way to let my family know how and why I came to transition. I am hoping my story might inspire others who are just starting this journey. Would anyone like to read it? I came across it when I was going through some old papers yesterday and felt inspired to share it here on BCTS.

your Autobiography

Post it, unless you publish. I, for one, would be interested to read it, and I'm sure others would find it useful and interesting.

I would love to read it.

When I first discovered the internet I found "IRC" and in there we all shared our stories around. While I didn't find any of them particularly "helpful" what I did find was a confidence in my belief.

Hearing so many people telling basically MY angst on being transsexual was an eye-opener. It solidified my desire to eventually transition and I did 2 years later. Like Colleen I was convinced I needed some arbitrary amount of income before I could transition... but hearing the stories of others I realised all I need is a steady income and a cheap place to live.

So yes! Post your autobiography online.

But make sure you explain to people that this is your story... not a story of your story. A few people seem to think that a story written in first person is automatically autobiographical.

About Me

I while ago I suggested to Erin that she add an "About Me" page (or something similar) to an author's page, so that if people wanted, they could give brief non-fantasy details about their life and issues so far - with suitable anonymising safeguards if thought necessary.

Unfortunately, like most here, she's been comprehensively sidetracked ever since...
