Help with TGFiction.Net

Hi Everyone!

I have been working quite a bit lately on upgrading/designing new features for TGFiction.Net in hopes of gaining both new visitors and new authors.

We are still having intermittent issues with some pages. But we think we have tracked down the bug that causes some pages to continually "load" on IE6 with Windows XP... It was those evil GOOGLE ads...

I've removed the GOOGLE ads from most the pages except for a few (for testing purposes) and was wondering if I could ask all you lovely BigCloset patrons to take a trip over to the site and tell me what you think. There is a new default Skin, there is some updating content, and hopefully without most of the bugs that have been plaguing the site.

For those that don't know the address is http://www.tgfiction.net and You can reply to this thread here, or you can reply via "Contact Us" or by leaving "comments" on the news post about the new theme and whatnot @ TGFiction.Net :)

Thank you in advance for all your help!

Piper, I Have One Thing To Say

I like the new format. Hope that the bugs are gone.

new look

I like the new orange offering and have already switched to it. Makes the page look much more inviting over the old blue and white. Its also easier to read. Good job. looking around the site also looks better.

The Theme Re-Design isn't 100% complete yet... The original theme designer released the theme as a "Work In Progress" but i loved it so much I just had to have it. She says the final version will have the 3 column layout throughout... And I think I might integrate that into my version also :)

Good for us readers

... not that it has ever affected me since I do not use exploder in any flavor except when I have to update my computer.

However, how is the removal of the ads gonna affect your bottom line ? 'Church don't work for free, you know' to borrow a phrase from a certain favorite British comedy series.

Alternative Revenue.....

Google Ads did bring in a little bit of $$$ but not a TON... I'm trying to work on alternatives, including possibly finding a way to make Google Ads "Fail Gracefully"... I have to thank Erin for planting that idea in my head... Plus, I've submitted a report to Google... There are a couple people reporting similar issues... Maybe they can fix it on their end?

(Don't worry, I know not to hold my breath on that last bit)

Google Ads crashing in IE 6

You can look up browser name and version. (but you knew this)
And filter the ads out if its IE6 or below.

Treat IE6 Users = Special?

Would require me a bit deeper integration for the ads, but it just might work :)

Thanks!
