How many of you take nitroglycerin pills? How many carry your prescription with you? If my experience is any indicator, you'd better start.

I went out to eat yesterday, secure in the knowledge that I had my Nitro Pills with me, in case of angina.

Later on I happened to notice they were no longer in my purse, so I started backtracking. Knowing they were in a shiny aluminum case made me sure they would be spotted.

When I went back to the restaurant (part of a national chain, btw), they'd found them! But seeing the word "Nitroglycerin" on the bottle, they were afraid it was a bottle of explosives! So they called the police!

The police, it seems, were smart enough to know they weren't explosives. But they WERE drugs requiring a prescription and as I didn't have that proof on me, they confiscated them!

Now I wasn't worried about the pills, they are really cheap. But a well-machined aluminium holder for those itty-bitty pill bottles the pills come in are getting hard to find. The ones sold now are cheaply made and even with an o-ring gasket still let moisture in if in a humid environment. I know I can get it back from the PD, but the paperwork will be a hassle. (Knowing the DEA, deliberately so.)

I ran into another hassle over pills at the grocery store. We went there to buy some generic Mucinex for a bad head cold I have. Found a nice large bottle (60 count) of the store brand so I headed for the checkout. And couldn't buy them! All because I didn't have my DL! This a non-controlled (aka OTC) pill but it was put on the controlled drug list anyway. Really, what is this world coming too? I suspect it's all to do with killing off the seniors as fast as possible. Not through the lack of needed medications, but the shear frustration!

Pills….

The police confisticating your nitroglycerin because you weren’t carrying your prescription is police harassment. Please engage a lawyer.

The store requiring a DL for musinex is also wrong. Complain that up to management and corporate. The only OTC med being tracked by DL and amount limited I know of is Sudafed (pseudoephedrine). That because you can make meth from it. (Well ephedrine too, but it can’t be sold in the US at all.) 60 pills is more than you can buy of Sudafed in a single month. Perhaps harassment here too?

sounds weird to me...

that the cops would not give the nitro pill over to you, unless there was no evidence of who they belonged to? And their only reason for asking to see the prescription was to verify that it was your pills?

As for the ID to buy and otc medication? Could it be a store policy or age requirement for the city/county/state?

One of our Grocery stores here in Iowa came up with a inhouse policy of scanning driver's licenses into their system when purchasing alcohol. I have no problem showing my ID to prove i'm over 21, even though at my age and appearance it shouldn't be necessary.

At first I had decided to not buy anything from that store until they changed their policy. It wasn't that the new policy hurt me, as I only drink an occasional beer and use liquor and wine for cooking only. It was the fact that this would allow their computers to track personal information that they had no need to know.

After thinking about my protest against the policy, I began going to the store to only buy alcohol products. one six pack of beer or one small bottle of brandy and nothing else. And rather than going through the quick check out in their liquor department I would take the item out to the main registers where i would end up causing a large wait for everyone behind me as I complained about the policy and would offer them every form of ID I had other than my DL, such as my fishing license, gun permit, etc. Forcing them to get a manager, who would eventually check me out without even looking at my ID.

Other people began doing the same thing at checkout and eventually the policy was replaced by the old "if they don't look at least 30, check their birthday on the DL"

I take Nitro

Although my doctor has me using 4mg per hour patches. His reasoning was that once the headache becomes too painful, i could remove the patch, (those that take nitro know all about that lovely side effect). The other reason for patches it that i can wear them daily when needed.

Although as Karen warned, if you have nitro, make sure to ALWAYS have some with you. I keep 4-5 spare patches in my wallet at all times.

I informed

The manager of the restaurant that if I should suffer any ill effects medically that the restaurant and manager would be placed at the top of my lawsuit. Not likely I know, but pain and suffering oughta be worth something, right?

Nitro pills is a lifesaver in the biggest way for a lot of people. Not sure where mine are. Eons back I was issued a bottle and a prescription for refills. When I returned home I dropped them somewhere in the house, haven't seen them since. Irregular heartbeat, it stops every so often to take a rest. Don't pass out, get sleepy or any of the bad traits and it kicks in again when it's ready.
You had to have a prescription for the nitro. Call your doctor or pharmacist you need a note on their prescription forms you are taking nitro. Any lawyers in your area pro bono who would write a letter informing the police you want your prescription pills back?
In Walmart last year and picked up a tube of Loc Tite name is self explanatory a dab on bolt threads holds the bolt from backing out. Had to show my driver's lic to buy it. They probably thought I was insane I got to laughing so hard. Finally catching my breath I told her. "Ma'am, I'm a plumbing and mechanical contractor, I handle quart cans of solvent and pipe cleaner that would put one on their butt if they were used in a closed room. Death would be a given if it happened and no one dragged them out.
She was adamant I had to show my driver's lic. The tube is smaller than my little finger. If I purchased too many in too short of a time I could expect a visit from the law.
I wish you well getting your pills and your case back. Maybe, someone with some grey matter between their ears will listen when you tell them it's yours.

Nitroglycerin pills

Yes, I carry a bottle of nitro pills with me where ever I go just in case. My doctor gave me a script for several bottles so I got a few of them filled keep them in my purse as well as all over the house in case I have a heart issue when I'm all the way on the other end of the house from the nightstand beside my bed. Like you however I don't carry a copy of my script with me either.

Be glad your Doc isn't a transphobe

There is one cardiac practice in town, and I had to go there after my Dr retired. They recognize I have heart disease, have angina, yet they refuse to re-prescribe and keep telling me I need to de-transition (effing theo-thugs). Had to get my GP to prescribe them, as she knows I hate them and only use them in dire emergencies (the little bottle lasts til they expire with only a few left). Go figure /shrug

The Mucinex is because of the

The Mucinex is because of the bronchiodilator, which they pitch as a decongestant. it's the "We have to stop people from making crystal meth!"

Dude, maybe we should just let them buy decent ingredients, let labs do it, and then we won't have so many toxic side-effects, explosions, and criminal deaths in addition to the drug problems WE STILL HAVE.

War on drugs my ass. it's simply price supports for criminals and job security for the various DEA groups.

Note, you can still get the decent small aluminum cases - you just need to hit the head shops or related online stores. I'd recommend getting one of the bullet shaped ones that hangs on your key chain. The key is to replace the crimp ring with a spring ring. The crimp ring and chain separate under any force - spring rings are much stronger.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Nitro Pills

I've had my nitro pills on my keychain for years. Thankfully, I've never used them. I dutifully replace the bottle I store with my other pills once every other year and swap out the pills in the keychain container. Google "nitro pills keychain" to see the many options which seemingly indicates that nitro pills are extremely common.

Some police are idiots. Some farmers are idiots. Some writers are idiots.

I'm sorry you ran into a pack of them.

I used to carry mine in a little tube with a screw in top. Looking, I see that Amazon has several types. Mine would hold about 10 of the tiny pills, and I had it on my key ring. When I was flying, it went on a neck chain and I told the inspectors that they were Heart Pills, because if I didn't they would freak out and want to confiscate them. Now days everyone is freaked out over the stupidest crap and I can see them wanting a copy of the prescription. You'd roll your eyes if you knew what they pay these Inspectors. It's been years, but I used to have to put my Pistol in Hold Baggage. I haven't flown in at least 10 years and with the insane happenings, I don't ever plan to get on a plane again. Perhaps I could drive or take AMTRAK?
