Just when you think everything is good and nothing else bad can happen, something else slaps you in the face. I was just informed this morning that I have until the 15th of September to get both my dogs vaccinated and licensed because the city is doing a consensus. If I had been told about this at the beginning of the month, I would have been fine. As it is, Kindle has not been kind lately. I had to use last month's kindle money to pay for bills and the tiny amount I'm getting this month won't even pay for one vet visit. I'm NOT sure what I'm going to do now....

Clinic?

Maybe if you check around there might be a free or low cost vaccination clinic in your area. I know that in the area where I am, once or twice a summer there is a temporary clinic set up to help people with limited transportation resources.

edit: You still might be able to get it done

If you are still near Lockport.

The health department's next free rabies vaccination clinic will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Lockport town highway garage, 6560 Dysinger Road.

That is a Saturday, so you would probably have to wait until early Monday to get the licenses, but I highly doubt animal control will put in the overtime to check on Sunday. Even if they do, if you have the rabies vaccination and promise to get the license the next day they will probably give you an extra day.

Still in Lockport but live in the city now :(.

Do you have any...

way to get to a Petco? I know they do low cost vaccinations one or two weekends a month (In the general $15-20 range, IIRC)

Not around here. I don't have any means to get to the nearest one either :(.

Lower cost vaccines

We have a ranch and home store (actually 2 of them) and they sell vaccines and syringes. Then you inject them yourself. Leaves only the rabies shot you have to get from a vet here (the tag and certificate). Our vet also has a payment plan for that kind of thing.

Rabies Shot

Its the Rabies shots both my dogs need actually. Can't get my dogs licensed in this state without one.

What first came to mind is to

What first came to mind is to simply have the dogs elsewhere that day.

"Dogs? What dogs? I'm planning on getting some dogs tomorrow, but I haven't picked them up yet."

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
