A general question on, I suppose, a health issue.

Let's talk pierced ears.

More specifically, pierced ears that have now 'healed' up and the 'channel' through the earlobe is blocked since the skin has grown over the hole back there behind the earlobe. Probably due to the hole not being properly doctored after an allergic reaction to non-'pure' metals.

(Any other reasons that this could happen will be gratefully considered!)

Are there any dangers in getting it re-pierced?

Either the body's reaction or considerations for the piercer.

What happens if the 'tunnel' is not EXACTLY duplicated in direction? What about making the second boring of the tunnel a wider diameter than the original? Should a totally new site be used? Etc. etc.

Inquiring minds would like to know!

Thanks in advance.

I had to have mine redone a few times. Don't think there are any problems (caveat not a medical or piercing professional).

My wife has actually re-punched hers through with earrings because she won't use keepers. the original 'scar' hole should be there, and just need cleaning out once you've found the dimple. If you have a reaction again, get some of the plastic keeper/sleeper tubes sold at piercing shops, and stick those in to keep the hole open.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

you get them done, can I recommend you stay with the hypo-allergenic materials for a long time and for sleepers? The scar tissue and new surface will be fragile for months. Not had re-piercing but did annoy my ears and had to re-heal the holes somewhat.

get my navel redone, they managed to follow the same channel. Though since then the skin actually died so m nvel is no longer peirced it just has a scar and 2 moles ( where the skin is still alive at the piercing site )

Stupidity is a capital offense. A summary not indictable.
