I found this interview with Tim Pratt on twitter. He's won several awards for his sf/fantasy stories. He's also an editor for Locus magazine. He talks a little about the creative process and I thought it was interesting. Maybe some of the authors here would enjoy reading it.

Pratt Mentions Theodore Sturgeon

Pratt mentions Theodore Sturgeon, who wrote the thought-provoking Venus Plus X in 1960. It's set in a world where humans have evolved beyond gender and have become hermaphrodites.

This is a subject Ursula Le Guin explored to great effect in The Left Hand Of Darkness and its sequel. Another interesting work is Mary Gentle's Golden Witchbreed, where children don't assume a gender until they reach the age of puberty.

Ban nothing. Question everything.
