“What is grief, if not love persevering?”
1954-2019

Quote written by Laura Donney, Screenwriter for WandaVision; Disney+, Marvel Studios.

Quite often I have quoted……

D. Eden's picture

The line, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

It is at times like this that I realize that this is incomplete, for the greatest love is that which is timeless - a love so great that it transcends even death and continues beyond into the unknown.

Some of us are lucky enough to find our one true love - our soulmate if you prefer that term. Once you have found them, there is no other. This is what the true meaning of monogamy is. To love someone so much that you cannot even fathom loving another.

I feel for you, as I am on the same path - and I can only say that I hope I go first, for if not I will surely follow soon after into the dark. Without her I have no course and no compass to follow it by; without her, I am adrift at sea.

I know that this doesn’t make the hurt any less, but know that you are not alone. Know that there are those out here who value you and would call you friend - those who need you even now. Know that you are in our thoughts on this day, and others. But especially on this day.

Dum Vivimus, Vivamus

A hand for each hand . . . .

Emma Anne Tate's picture

A hand for each hand was planned for the world.
Why don’t my fingers reach?
Millions of grains of sand in the world.
Why such a lonely beach?
Where is the voice to answer mine back?
Where are two shoes that click to my clack?
I’m all alone in the world.

I can’t help but think of this song from Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol when I think of your grief at losing your beloved wife. It’s not enough, sometimes, to believe that she is safe in the arms of a loving God, or even that you will be reunited in a better world. You still have to go on living in this world.

As Dallas said, you are not alone in the world, though it must feel that way so often. You touch so many of us here, and we are with you in your grief.

Sending lots of love,

Emma

It is interesting that my recently deceased partner was born the same year.

She looks lovely and I hope that you will forever remember the best parts of your life together.

I know your home is still imbued with her presence, at least I still feel that way for my home as I still think of it as Our Home and I still feel like I am coming home to her after a days' work.

Due to my partner's depression she did not interact with me as much as one would hope in the last 3 years (covid surely did not help), She had her own room due that consequently and in a way I can still imagine her just still sleeping in there with her TV going.
