I don't know HTML. How do I put my pic on comments? Help. Joani

May I ask

That you reconsider adding a piccy to your comments? It seems that the piccys or illustrations used by most are 3 - 4 times as big as the comment they are attached to. Get a couple of people with illustrated sig lines going on a story and the comment tail ends up being many times longer than it would be otherwise. For readers on cellphones that makes for a h*** of a lot of scrolling. Speaking only for myself that means I quit reading and skip the comments. Too much of a PITA.

To be completely honest, when I see a story with 50+ comments I don't even open it on my cell, and for the next few weeks that is likely to be the only way I'll be able to read, and I don't know how I'll even get it charged while I'm in CCU.

Images

As Karen says, many images tend to be rather large - ideally if you are desperate to have an image:

  1. Make it fairly small (probably no bigger than 150x150)
  2. Upload it to your user account here (it makes it quicker to load than if the image is having to be dragged in from elsewhere on the web)
    • Click My account
    • Click Personal Files
    • Near the bottom of the screen, you'll see a Browse button. Click that and find the image on your local computer.
    • Once you've found and highlighted the image, click Open, then in the main window, Upload.
  3. Return to the story you were reading, and start writing a comment.
  4. Click the far right button on the top row (the last few buttons should be L, S, a numbered list, a bulleted list, and what appears to be a sunset - that last button is the one you want).
  5. A new window pops up. Click Browse (a window pops up showing the files you've uploaded to TopShelf), find the file you uploaded, and click Add.
  6. Close that window, and the image details should appear. Click OK.
  7. You should see code looking something like this appear in the comment box - that's your image.
  8. <img src="/topshelf/system/files/u6689/aquagirl2.jpg" width="121" height="275" alt="" />
