Looking for a story

I have been trying to find a series of stories based on the following criteria:

The main character is relocating with her (his) baby to a small seaside town. Wife had cut off ties because she had cancer.

She is an artist.

There is an older lady (rich) who shoots at gophers with a shotgun and has an adopted niece who is transgender.

Eventually opens a shop to sell her (and others) art.

Eventually inherits a yacht.

I am trying to find this series for some time now. For some reason I cannot remember the name of the seaside town.

Any help would be appreciated.
