Transsexual in Hiding

Printer-friendly version

Hey everyone! Here's my first post to topshelf and I just wanted to make it short.

The first line to this poem has been bouncing around my head for a few days and I just decided to go with the flow and see where it left me.

Transsexual in Hiding

Clawed and clawed 'till fingers bare
This costume which I seem to wear,
Myself I hide in darkness deep
So very long she's been asleep,
But now I want her up and out
So she can see the world about,
For as she sleeps down darkness deep
Her memories will slowly seep

Just hurry, get her up and

Just hurry, get her up and out
It is your YOU what it's all about
All else would be just waisted time
And to waste such wealth is worse than crime

Hiding doesn't help you, dear
Believe me, I have behen there
It only makes you numb and sick
And life- and soulles like a brick

It's hard to have your coming out
But WHEN you do it, shout out loud
Be selfsure, proud and just live what you are
You gotta lose all expections and don't think to far

You gotta be willing to be ready for whatever may come
You rise or you fall, and there will be some
Whom'll be teasing and threating, don't let them succeed
Just be friendly and smile, and you will see

That it will get better, it just needs some time
And then you'll become happy within in your life's prime
'Cause noone can life in constant disguise
That's what I learned: Keep hid and you'll die

P.S.
Mere existance is worth nothing. To
LIVE is all that counts. No matter at what cost.

Firstly, welcome!

It's a short poem but it conveys the essence of the message very well (and something that many of us I'm sure can relate too). Hopefully we will see more from you in the future.

"Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life."

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Thank you!

I hope to post some more in the future as well! :)

Welcome to BC/TS.

So much said in so few words. This says it all in a nutshell. It is sad they way most think they have to hide who they are in this day and age. Example: I live in a red neck small town in northeastern lower Michigan, yet I not only demand to be treated as me, but I am treated as me, by everyone, including the red necks. They call me names and make threats and I tell them to go home and sleep it off. No, not really, but I just walk away, leaving them still calling me names and making their empty threats and I am smiling as I walk away too. The problem we as transgender persons have, is we use way too much caution in protecting ourselves from the wolf pack that would devour us.

But I have lived my entire life showing the world who Barbara Lynn Terry is. I ignore the boys don't do that saying because the word "boy" is generic, just as girl, man and woman are. Male and female are descriptive but, how do you define what is male and what is female? Genitalia, inner, perceived identity? How?

This poem should be sent to every woman's magazine for publication. It has a message the world needs to learn. Thank you for sharing.

"With confidence and forbearance, we will have the strength to move forward."

Love & hugs,
Barbara

"If I have to be this girl in me, Then I have the right to be."
