Among other placess this weekend, I'll be at the San Diego ComicCon on Saturday. I'm going to look up Dan Shive and stroke his bushy little tale. :)

Hope to see you there. :)

Directions

:( And I'm heading the other direction today going to Temecula for my Sis-N-laws Birthday. Welcome to San Diego, hopefully the weather will still be nice like it's been for the last week. Foodwise, San Diego County is pretty much a gastrinomical wasteland... But there is one bright spot... You'll have to try Phil's BBQ off Washington. Best Ribs this side of Kansas City I've found. Oh how I miss San Francisco! Maybe this is why I've lost 45 pounds down here. Giggles

San Diego

There used to be a decent Rib Joint almost downtown called Kansas City Ribs and Steaks, I think. I'll look for Phil's if I get the time, thanks. :)

Kansas City Barbecue

It's just across the street from the Manchester Grand Hyatt on Harbor Drive near Seaport Village shopping area, just down the street from the Convention Center. It's also where they filmed the bar scene in Top Gun where they sang "Great Balls of Fire."
Enjoy yourself in San Diego!

Pooped out. :) But I did see Dan Shive and some other friends I hadn't seen in years. Great time.

Stopped at Phil's on the way back and had a wonderful meal. I trolley went right by KC BBQ on the way to and from the convention center but I decided to try the new place. I think it may be better but I didn't like the coleslaw that much. Good ribs and sauce though. :)

Coleslaw

Well Quality Control in the back kitchen isn't the best I've found. Some days it's been bitter, and other days nice and sweet. Pretty variable on the 'slaw. There is variation on the Ribs but not as much. It is still my first choice for food in San Diego for Lunch or Dinner.

Mmmmmmm Mmmmmmm good!

Had dinner at Phils last night. Had fries, beans, and a Half rack of ribs. Yum yum, but they still better at home. Smoked in the smoker for hour and 15. then wrapped in foil with BBQ sause and baked in the smoker for another 4 hours at 225 degrees F. Our rub is paprika, cane sugar, cayenne pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, dry ground mustard, and ground black pepper. Been using cattlemans classic BBQ sause.
