The term Corrective Rape is one applied to the brutal sexual assault and rape of lesbians, gay and transgender people by thugs usually young men. It is purported to teach them a lesson but frequently leaves them devastated or even dead. It is a hate crime of the first order, and seems to be on the increase.

Explanations for it suggest it's perpetrated by young men who are poor, angry with the government, and let down by society in general, I suspect as well probably drinking or using other substances. The explanations sound more like excuses - there are none, it's simply a crime of great brutality and cowardice by a bunch of cowardly barbarians which must make South Africa very proud.

Elsewhere, women are asserting themselves with Slutwalks and even changes in regime in parts of the Middle East. The contrast is amazing isn't it? The solution - education and empowerment of women and the message loud and clear, everyone has the right to be themselves without hate or hindrance, and violence should never be tolerated except in self-defence.

"Yes as through this world I wander I've seen lots of funny men,
some will rape you with a penis, and some with a fountain pen..."

~Woodette Guthrie, The Ballad of Sissy Boy Floyd

When the criminality gets down to the level of wandering gangs of thugs it seems like there's frustratingly little we outside of South Africa can do to stop it. Not like boycotting their businesses to end Apartheit or the other chickenshit activism I've engaged in, writing a nasty letter to the Taliban or the Sudanese telling them to stop being so goshdarn oppressive. But I AM glad that the backlash (see Susan Faludi's excellent book BACKLASH) against women's rights, gay rights, transgender rights---these all sorta wind up lumped together as targets of the misogynist/patriarchalist mindset---tend to take a more subtle form in places like Canada, US, and western Europe than the outright use pf rape as a political weapon, silencing those struggling for their rights thru plain old fear. Usually that is, tho' some rapes here are vaguely politically motived. I'd make some kind of joke about Corrective Castration but that would just be sinking to their bestial level. Sigh.

Terminology

I prefer the phrase "retroactive birth control" for these subhuman males, get them out of the gene-pool ASAP!

. . . .

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until they speak.

I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.

Corrective?

Maybe some of these would be victims should carry corrective box cutters; a solution applied at the right moment could be sweet justice in itself?

Their Reasoning Makes Absolutely No Sense

PICT0013_1_0.jpg Their reasoning behind this makes no sense. If someone is brutally raped I know the last thing they would want to do is get near another man. I know several friends who spent years in therapy just so they could even stand to be around any non threatening male in their lives. They lose their trust even in men that have loved and protected them and have never harmed them. Lesbians are not attracted to men because their orientation is toward women. Getting raped by a man would make them even less likely to turn heterosexual because of it. The people that do this are nothing more than sexual predators who see any woman as an opportunity to assert their power and control. It is sickening!

But, but men are useful, men are sexy ....

... well, maybe not the sexy part, not to me at least. Yes the subject line is sarcastic.

I am surprised a certain BC author who is the prime defender of men not being stereotyped as being Bad News and should not be punished overly severely even when they do stuff that destroys people's life has not commented that they should not be punished not too severely for doing that kind of stuff as other folks here has suggested.
