I Had Blood Work Today

I had my blood work done today and I am worried that if they find anything wrong that my doctor will stop my HRT. I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything comes out okay. I have been lucky that things have come out fine in the past. I will be on pins and needles waiting for the results. I imagine I will be on edge all weekend until I know what the results are. Has anyone had their HRT stopped because of something showing up. I guess I am just freaking out over the prospect. I imagine I am coming across as borrowing trouble. I just can't help it right now.

Just go easy girl.

You have a problem that is worse than Diabetes? I know several Diabetics on HRT. Are you morbidly obese? I'm 5'7 and 170. Anything over about 250lbs would be Morbidly Obese for me. A BMI of 40 is the magic number. When I started this whole debacle I had a BMI of 19. So, unless you have some special medical problem, you will not have a problem, I do not think.

Ask yourself if you are being a little paranoid about this? They'll want to use some spironolactone, to stop the testosterone, and then they'll give you some Estrogen. They can give you the little blue pills, (Estrodial)(I used 2 mg), or they can give you shots, or they can give you the patches. Interestingly, my Endocrinologist put me on the patches because the dose is 1/100th of the dose of the Estrdial but because it is not going through your intestine, Liver, or Kidneys it is not screwing those organs up. The Vivelle .1 patches go right into your blood and do their best.

For me, HRT was a big non event. I had no trouble except a couple times tried to double up on things, due to impatience. Yup, that just put me right over the top and twice I got a ride in a Police Car with handcuffs on. Both times, the cops said I was very nice and they were sorry they had to do it to me. So, the moral of this story is stick to the dose they give you.

Much peace

Gwendolyn

I found that the patches worked much better than the pills and got breast growth almost overnight from the patches. I have a pair of very happy B girls now. and I likes em a lot!

How do...

...patches compare, cost-wise, to either pills or injection? Also, how is their availability (number of manufacturers, access via pharmacies; conveyed relatively: "more" vs. "less", is useful, though absolute numbers, if available are better).

Information—the right information, at the right time, to the right people—is POWER unparalleled.

I Have Been Following My Doctor's Advice

jengrl's picture

I have been following my doctor's advice from the beginning. I am strong believer in making sure that I don't try to do anything stupid. I passed 6 years on HRT last June 1st. I know some people who have gotten their hormones online from Canada and self administered. They were really sorry they did. I probably am being paranoid. Thanks for indulging this crazy woman in her ravings and worries.

Not exactly...

There was a while, where they thought they might have to stop my Spiro (due to liver issues) But after many issues (& elimination of my BP Meds) the Liver turns out to be just fine (if fatty).

I have quite a number of other medical issues (show up in blood work), but none of them have caused my doc to consider stopping my HRT. She's moved my dose around but not much there even... (I'm on self injected Estrogen. My doc won't prescribe pills for anyone over 50... So, it's either injection or the patch. So, I learned to poke holes in my legs.)
