That's a record number of visitors to BC on Monday, August 9th. It's also 177% of the average number of visitors in August of last year. The average for August this year is just about 150% of last year.

The number of pages viewed is probably also a record, though maybe not technically since we had one day when some bot in Italy two years ago downloaded over half that many pages in a 16 hour period all by itself. There was also a freaky day in March about that time when FM, SS and SP were all down and page downloads went nuts on BC as people tried to copy the site for fear it would also go down.

Traffic on BC has been growing for the last three months at a rate of more than 2% per week, or about 33% a quarter. I don't expect that to continue through the end of the year but in the past, the period of greatest growth has always been November through January.

Normal growth at BC has averaged just less than 1% per week over a span of years. I think we may have hit a knee in the curve, a taking off point but who knows, we could hit a plateau just as easily. More readers also means more authors and more stories. Last week we averaged one new author a day. We've been averaging more than ten new stories a day for some time, about 80 a week.

And the community is growing. More stories have more comments and more blogs are being posted, too. Friction is also up a bit but seems to quiet down faster than it had in the past. More people are being more tolerant of each other, I think.

Big Closet Top Shelf is a friendly place, I like it here. :)

Hugs to all,
Erin

Good news Erin!

It's good to see that things are moving forward and the site is gettong more popular even than before.

I did wonder post FM fiasco whether there would be a huge drop in numbers and you have answered my question.

This is a thriving community with lots of great stories and an interaction with readers that is second to none.

I love the way that you allow authors to put their own stories on and be creative in their presentation. Also, it's great that we have blogs where we can voice our worries, concerns and opinions about all kinds of things. All right, it isn't perfect and somtimes we get a bit upset, but that is what families do! That is normal with any family. Judging by the size of our family, we don't do too badly on that front!

Anyway, long may BCTS lead the way in how a good TG story site should be run.

Hugs

Sue

I Like it here Too!

[email protected] You're obviously doing more than a few things right Erin! I've noticed the increase in new members, authors, and visitors to the site. I feel totally blessed to have found this wonderful family. And to me, it is indeed a family.

The interaction that occurs here is beyond my wildest dreams when I first joined. I've found friends, support, love and understanding that I can only dream about experiencing in RL. I really don't know what might have happened without the support I've found here.

Thank You So Much!
Love and Big Huge Hugs,

Jonelle

Sadly, this announcement

Angharad's picture

has only had eighty odd hits, does that mean many didn't spot it? I didn't see it myself until now, three days later.

I think the success of the site is significantly due to the policy and efforts of the management, and for which the great unwashed are largely unappreciative. So those of us who are need to speak out frequently and loudly. Thank you, Erin, for all the time and effort you bestow upon us, which some of us appreciate more than we can say.

Huge hugs of thanks,

Angharad
