One finished...

Right now I'm feeling a mix of elation and sadness. A story I've lived with, thought about and sweated over for years is finished. It's never easy to let your children go, I know this because my youngest is moving out on her own tomorrow, both instances are bittersweet but tell me that I've managed to do something right even with all the mistakes made along the way.

Writing MbD was kind of like being on a roller coaster that wouldn't stop and let you off even when you screamed for mercy. It just was, and would still be there no matter what I did or what happened. Again, I can't begin to express the deep feelings of satisfaction and loss that I have when one of my beloved children 'grow up'. If you haven't been there I can't describe it, if you have there is no need for descriptions is there?

So what's in the future? Truthfully, I'm not sure at the moment. I have other series that need to be finished, a novel that needs some touching up for publication, and more ideas than I really know what to do with. So what else is new? *grin*

But for all of you fearing that Deirdre and her family won't grace - or plague - your browsers again, fear not. I opened another can of nice squirmy worms with the hinted at relationship between Harald the court mage and Ilene, Deirdre's little sister. That should be a fun story but will lack a lot of TG elements other than mention of Derek/Deirdre.

I also have a collaboration going that I would like to finish. And other possibilities for more of those with some writers I both enjoy and respect.

So where do I go from here?

Dust in the wind, my friends, dust in the wind.

Whither I goest, I shalll be.

Bless all of you.

Maggie

Hi Maggie

I have followed your pennings for a while (Don't want to give anything away) all the way from Masks and Marvels (and before) to Whateley to Deidre. Just wanted you to know that I eagerly await about anything you pen. Thanks for your efforts.

ERrr Of Masks and Marvels is Bek

Corbin's ( whom I wish would go back to writing it, hint, hint, it's been literally years since that series have had any new additions )

I look forward to whatever Maggie cares to pen!

Brava!

Kim

So agreeing there

I love Whatley but those of us who are Lady Lightning fans never got to see the story finished.

Bailey Summers

Yeah

I caught that, but I was trying to hide a long time frame in there, not to imply that I'm getting old or have been reading their stuff for many years.

One finished...

Both with the children of

Both with the children of your flesh and the children of your mind one has to know when to let them go...this is one of the things that makes a good parent or author. If you're one tenth of the parent that you are an author your daughter is well prepared to face life, to make her own mistakes and define her own path and place in this world.

If that novel 'that needs some work for publication' is the one I think it is your bum needs a damn good kicking. Yes I know real life gets in the way of the lives we wish were far more real...but come on get it out there, make your impact...don't be one of those people who sit there saying 'if only I'd...' You're one of the best authors I've read in any genre and I've read a hell of a lot...keep hammering those keyboards, dream those dreams and occasionally gift us with a fragment of those dreams, but do this for you...you deserve it.

Anyway that's about it for the moment, I'm not here often, real life has beaten my muse into hiding (yes I know you've had a hell of a lot of crap going on too) and there's nothing more miserable than a blocked author...other than having to live with a blocked author. I've not forgotten you all and when my muse starts whispering again I'll probably be back.

Wishing the best for you, your family and all you care for,

Hypatia
