I'm not complaining ... far from it.

When I posted Maggie the Kitten's Kitten Tail', I did an experiment.

I deliberately posted my story about her, right behind it. I even used her name in the title, as I had done when I originally wrote it for her.

Result?

At this moment, her story has 514 reads, mine has just 383.
And I'm not upset, because she has written a lot more quality stories than I have, and probably always will be able to do so. Her work is deserving of catching the eye of her fans just because she wrote it.

Allow me to disagree

With all due respect to both of you, IMHO your stories tend to be more enjoyable than hers. To me. That is strictly one woman's opinion. Everybody has differing tastes, it may simply be that your audience is more discerning. Sounds good, anyway! ;-)

MtK's stories have a different audience, I don't happen to be a part of it. So your stories written to that audience would, by definition, not be appealing to me. But I am far more likely to look at your stories in the first place, even if I decide to bow out partway through.

I guess what I'm trying to say is you need to keep doing what you do best, writing your stories. They will find a readership, never fear.

I haven't been commenting much lately, had an attack of the "unsociabilities". Then I got home today to find that either my monitor or my computer, or both, are in the process of dying (video problems of some sort). But I will be trying to pop in from time to time to keep up with things. And I promise I will click on a story with your name on it, okay? :-)

74%

Don't be so dismissive of your own talents - 383/514 = over 74% of people that read Maggie's story also read yours.

I'd say that isn't a bad follow-through rate - you should view your proverbial glass as half full, rather than the other way around :)

Hits and Popularity

Girl, if I got me kinckers in a twist over the number of people who read my stuff, I'd never post here. I know we all wish more people read the stories we post here, but remember;

You can get some of the people to love you all of the time, and all of the people to love you some of the time, but you can't have your cake and eat it too since a rolling stone gathers no moss where the horse you're trying to lead wont drink.
