A Shame

She was only a year older than me. What I wouldn't have given to have had her novels to read when I was a teen. Perhaps I might have realized that not only wasn't I an anomaly, there were people that understood my life and didn't think I was some kind of abomination. Even now I feel a great need to read her collected works, and shine her light on my life and soul.

We are losing so many who were there before most realized transgender was a part of life for the select few. Julie is credited with being one of the first writers to include a teenager as transgender. Change of Heart predates hers by six years but she can have the honor. The stiff necks have been pulling her books from the school libraries in this transgender meltdown the nation seems to be embroiled in. It would be a loss as individuals should get a choice if they want to read a book or not.
May she find peace and happiness knowing she shared so much with so many.
