When I was in Cleveland and points east, I kept well camouflaged as a covered Muslim woman. Later in the North West, I seem to live in an area where I seem safe, but do not go out at night. Logic should make it clear that one does not go to bars. Biking should start in a month or two and that has allowed me to flee plonkers before they could prove themselves dangerous.

History is on the front line of censorship from the right. In Florida, history books are being re-written to remove the 'woke' parts such as Rosa Parks.
Mathematics is to be eshewed because if you know 'sums' you can see for yourself that their economic policies will mean the end to western civilisation through the collapse of the banking system. The current crisis is IMHO a false start.
Science is not in the Bible and besides, a lot of the groundwork was done by Muslim scholars and mathematicians 800 years ago so as it isn't christian and white, it is not allowed. Plus, the defacto leader of the GOP in the house has proudly announced on more than one occasion that she does not believe in Science.
IMHO, this lot will not stop until society is run only by old white billionaires and women's lives are equivalent to what women are experiencing in Afghanistan in 2023.
All I can hope for is that the above does not come to pass.

Next Moves
Very proud of my state.
It appears a constitutional amendment will be on the ballot in the next general election that will surely pass. The amendment will broaden current discrimination laws to include Gender Identity or Expression.
Most studies indicate that about 65% favor Trans protection from discrimination. . .while only about 10% oppose in USA. I'm sure these numbers are even more favorable in Minnesota.
The Republican party is out of step with the country and seemingly is forming coalitions with extremists to foment mob rule.
The definition of "woke" is being alert to social injustice and discrimination.
Politicians and TV commentators who rant against "woke" are attempting to sustain minority rule by quashing awareness of the reality of the above numbers.
Think about it . . . only 10% oppose laws banning trans discrimination. . .65% are in favor of laws banning trans discrimination. Yet, red states are passing blatantly biased laws restricting trans rights.
Demand your right to be "woke." Being "woke" is a patriotic duty.
Be alert that anti "woke" statements are bigotry.
Over the last few days we have had a family crisis. I was reminded how "embarrassed" we were in the sixties when one of my brothers went to Mississippi to ride the Freedom Buses with MLK.
We were a liberal family. But the vast majority of people in the USA thought MLK was a communist. We were ignorant if the reality of racial discrimination.
We are a nation of good people who can only be pushed in the wrong direction if ignorance is allowed to rule.
The majority of people on this site know the dire consequences of withholding gender care from young trans girls. I believe most of us agree that gender affirmation surgery for minors should be rare. . .and is.
Being "woke" is an essential part of the education process that helps spread the facts..
When a governor talks about his state being the place where "woke" goes to die, he is speaking about institutionalized bigotry.
When a TV network makes "woke" a four letter word they are exposing their repressive agenda of minority rule.

Woke is opposite of bigoted in denotation but lacks its emotional baggage in connotation. Where woke goes to die, bigots go to thrive.
Beware. Some will take “to die” literally, and not just by outlawing healthcare.

The legislative sessions have returned in full force for their second halves across the U.S. It’s gotten pretty grim over the course of this year: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Iowa, Mississippi, South Dakota, Tennessee, Georgia, and Utah have formal bans on gender-affirming care for trans youth, with bans likely to become law in Kentucky, and West Virginia. Seven more rapid bans or severe restrictions on care are advancing through state legislatures in Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Three states have taken extralegal measures to ban care: Florida has banned gender affirming care without changing the law at all, Texas harasses trans youth and their parents using extralegal force via executive order, and this week, Missouri’s Attorney General used similar executive action to heavily restrict care via “emergency” measures, even if healthcare bans fail in the state senate, which seems unlikely. The Human Rights Campaign estimates that more than half of transgender adolescents are at risk of losing access to care given these bans across the country. These bans, rife with hypocrisy, often allow non-consensual surgeries to still be performed on intersex youth.
