When Amelia and I originally wrote “Peaches” -- we were relieved when Y2K turned out to be a yawn brought on by adequate preparation. That particular hysteria cost my business about $1million when I lost a major supplier for what turned out to be no valid reason. They wrote me a check for $40k to soothe my pain. . .didn’t.

I had been writing stories for Storysite and Fictionmania. Erin was impressed by “Baseball Annie” and asked me to post stories on BC. I immediately loved having my stories on BC and have made BC my exclusive online home for over two decades. Nothing has ever swayed my opinion of the immense good Erin has done and is doing for our community.

My early involvement in BC led to me meeting Amelia R -- and to her sending me a two-hundred-and-fifty-word synopsis of “Peaches.” She proposed a co-authorship. It was the only story we wrote together. After trying unsuccessfully to find a mainstream publisher I proposed that we rewrite the story to appeal to a broader audience. I sent her the first few chapters of the rewrite “Shannon’s Course” which she hated. She lost interest in the project and formed an editing relationship with Julie O which lasted quite some time.

I had read “Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants” – mainly because my daughter reading. I highly disliked the use of a different narrative character each chapter, but for some strange reason decided such an approach would work for “Peaches.” Muses be damned!

“Peaches” is demonstrative of BCs abilities to bring people together in a joint effort. Dozens of people helped us write this story. Others, like Gabi, gave it a final professional patina.

“Peaches” crowning achievement is the money it continues to generate for this site. It's #25 today on Amazon's bestseller chart for LGBTQ YA fiction.
