Let us pray the fearmongers and haters don't pick up on these children and their families. They are in the best years of their young lives to find their true self and grow into it. They are also in the most danger from the bigots who will do their best to destroy them and their families if they could.

Growing concerns...
As I write this, legislation is now being considered or has already been enacted in the US and Europe that would deny these children vital medical intervention to as late as twenty-one years of age. It wavers between heartbreaking and infuriating to see medical expertise and very established science overridden by political decisions based on religious ideology. Such denial, if codified, could literally and ironically destroy the lives of the very ones they claim to protect.

I have nothing to do with religion. How to deal with potential transgender children is a matter for the experts, the parents and the children. In the UK this was all stirred up by a mother whose child was undergoing treatment then changed her mind. Guidelines should encompass a choice to do whatever or not, or to undo whatever. Children should not be given irreversible treatment until they are of an age to make decisions for themselves and understand the repercussions of it, but that should not preclude blockers, which is what has now been outlawed all because one stupid woman went to court over it. Those of us who are or were transgender realise that those who transition young make the most complete change, at the same time appreciate that children are prone to change their minds or not understand consequences of actions, which is why they see experts in the field of gender medicine.
