Ok here is the 'Rub'.
As well those whom have followed my brief rare postings & or talk to me regularily (well socially) on social media.
You know my reasons for alot of my messed up complications, invloved with my life.
Everything, including especially including the past has left me with dissassociative amnesia>dissassociative faugue, so if my describtions seem bleak, overlapped etc I am sorry, this is eating away at me like a bad craving in the middle of the night you just cannot quench.

-I am unsure, this was about 10 years ago I am certain because, if memory serves me right I was undergoing conversations around editing, I think it was with sephrena with my main 'story/novellette' whatever lol
-I think it may have been posted by her, or through her, or it is the ties that somehow have her in my overlapped mind.
So this story 'teenage' wins some contest or raffle or something, being given a salon makeover.
-I believe their friend, finished off their look with proper girly attire.
After the long day they pass out (I believe on a sofa/couch in living/family room) & their mother finds them, not recognizing her own child until confrontation...believing them to be a 'secret' date of their 'son/daughter' passed out in their home at first...confusing and a bit irritated not completely aggressively but it may have been friendly/civil.
-I do believe they had mixed feelings, but back then I was busy and reading alot of stories back then like I have again the past half a year day in and day out.
-These were installment/chapters of a continuing I believe novellette or series, at the beginning.
-There was a temporary cut off after I think 3 installments before I think holidays or something, put publications on the back-burner, but at that time my reading cut down, just like my writing, so I did not get to read anymore & lost track...there are many other stories I have I am looking for as well but, that will come when I have enough information to sits right in my squarely memory.
-Mom is taken aback at first...do not remember much after that
-Gets a call or something I believe and the teen somehow i forget why/how not that it completely matters; gets roped into it was modelling, prom/homecoming...something dress up fancy important
-May be overlapped, but....I 'think' I recall something about a 'blue tunic top' course I can recall at the least 2 stories with that ensemble such as jackie petts 'step (something)' & Tanya Allen's, I believe 'the hard way'. Neither of which fit the bill, on the meager demographics I recall
-I do understand, that all this sounds like well every other story, I know factually that I read it here, there was (at least then) a picture...I believe and the girl in the picture was a blond (ya....almost all the girls in these stories go blond, i know but it is what it is)
-I think it may have been discussed that it was a temporary instalment (removable after awhile)

I do seriously appreciate the assitance & am really sorry for the foggyness, acking whatever of the details/memories.
Been trying to search and everything it is honestly driving meself batty

Thank you <3 'fingers crossed'

I'm not recognizing it. Good luck on finding it.

A Possibility....

that came to mind with mentioning some of the things from the story you recalled make me think of maybe it was Arecee's "Homecoming Princess" and the couple of "sequels" plus the rewrite that was done later. At least that was the story that I recalled that has similar scenes.

I'm glad we were able to help

I'm glad we were able to help jog your memory. The protagonist on the couch with her mother discovering her there after a 'makeover' was the scene that triggered it for me. Nagged me something fierce trying to remember so I simply went into my rather extensive collection of stories and poked through the ones that were 10+ yrs old and sped read through them. This one stood out so there ya go!

A bit too familiar

Hypatia Littlewings's picture

It does sound very familiar, but I can't quite place it. Some of the elements are fairly common, so it also sounds like quite few stories that do not fit all of what you mentioned, making it harder to identify.

There have been several stories with the "who are you" moment, but no contest, and others that have contest but no sudden reveal moment like that.

My first thought was a story where a boy enter some sort of mail-in product contest, and has to be a girl to collect the prize. I don't think that is it tho.

>i< ..:::

I remember reading that story.

First that popped into my memory was Show me Your Money (now on Kindle) but mother caught the protagonist serving customers at cosmetics department in the store...
And it is not The Reluctant Girl Friend (also on Kindle now...), where protagonist walks in on her parents...
And yes, I remember that episode... And now I searched BCTS. But... Hopefully I will get lucky in the morning...
PS: OK found episode of girl on the couch. It IS from the Homecoming Princess mentioned earlier.
So now i can say, that like me you got several stories mixed... What happens at the start, I am not sure, there are several stories fitting. Then "couch episode" from Homecoming Princess, then confrontation from Show Me the Money. And then modelling from half a dozen "candidates".
