I don't seen to be able to leave comments. I am logged in, but the leave comment link does not appear. Did I get bared and not know it?

Cache problem

It looks like a cache problem. Randomly, when you click on a page, it gets served from cache instead of the BC servers. That means you might get a version where the user (any user) isn't logged in, and in that case you wouldn't see an "Add a comment" link under it.

I see this most frequently with the Home page. If you click on "Home" and it comes back too quickly, it is probably the not-logged-in version. Look at top right: does the page say Login or Logout?

I can't suggest a way to read a post and guarantee a way you can be logged in and do that. It just seems to be completely random.

To ensure that you can properly log out, scroll down the right-hand side to "Navigation" and click "My Account". If you are really logged in, you should see the My Account page. From the top right you can then properly log out. If BC thinks you are not logged in, then you might end up on the Login page.

Good luck!

"Relax" I say in large, friendly letters ...

First, what Penny said.

Rarely, it can be a problem at our end. If that's the case, doing a complete power shutdown, and a "cold boot" should clear our end.

Of course, we save everything first, and close as many applications and browsers as we can before power down.

About a month ago, we (BC) got hit pretty hard by a cyber attack. It turned out that the 'fix' was not a simple reload/restore, but instead the Admins went with a rebuild of the whole site. BC was intermittently down for about a week, and then (sorry, Admins) "flaky around the edges" for another week or two.

Logging in was one of the sub-systems affected. Even now, a month later, I kinda expect to be silently logged off every day or so. I can still see everything - which initially left me just as confused as you are now - but I can't "Kudo" or comment.

(Re-) logging in cures that problem nicely.

Anyhow, welcome back ... and back ... and back ...

Missed my point

You aren't logged out; you have just been sent an out-of-date page. If that page thinks you are logged out you won't see the comments link under the story.

The only way you can tell if you are logged in or not is to do what I said above. Go to Navigation -> My Account (which seems to always be available). If you receive your account page then you are still logged in, however any other page you select may still give you either 'Login' or 'Logout' at the top. If you actually were not logged in, then you'll probably get a fresh Login page.
