Blog About:

Erin and I would like to have a picnic. So....

We're Having a Picnic. Attend in femme or in drab, come as you are!

We're looking for a date and location that will work for the greatest number.

August 23rd is a date I'll throw out.

We've done this in the San Francisco Bay area, and had a wonderful time!!

A couple of people there were absolutely dreamy.

So, if you are anywhere in the Southern California area give thought to attending.

Actually, if you're in Tristan da Cuhna and can come we would love to have you!!

Hugs and Blessings,
Beth

I can't make it to

I can't make it to California, so I will attend in spirit. (Should I die unexpectedly before then, I will do my best to really show up in spirit.)

Interest in East Coast US Version?

IS there an interest in an east coast version of a BCTS Picnic? We could do the same thing and perhaps connect to the other party via Skype or Google Hangouts?
I could offer a wonderful place to meet and to coordinate a East Coast Party. The place that I have in mind is in an eastern Suburb of Atlanta GA.

Atlanta BCTS Picnic

I'd be happy to attend a party/picnic in the Atlanta area.

Starfox.

Auguest 23 or September 6

Sounds like if we firm up a date then there will be a party/picnic in the Atlanta Area since there appears to be enough interest. I'll wait for things to firm up on the west coast and match their date. If we don't have a firm date by August 1 for the west coast then I'll consult with everyone interested in an Atlanta BCTS Picnic/Party and we'll set a date. I can provide transportation to and from ATL airport and provide crash space for the weekend at Covington Castle.

Wow! I'm excited! I'll post Blogs on the progress of the ATL BCTS party as we approach the day. Anyone interested please PM so I can make sure you get updates so we can get a consensus on what we are planning

My problem is simple...

Ragtime Rachel's picture

...money. Or rather, the lack of same. I could take a Greyhound to Atlanta easily enough, but I'd have to factor in the cost of a hotel stay, not to mention food for however many days I'm there. It would be even more difficult in southern California, because hotel/motel rates are so high. But it does have one advantage over Atlanta--I'd be able to meet fellow visitors to this site *and* visit a friend of mine who lives in L.A.

Edit: Sept. 6 is a good day, assuming I did get there. By coincidence, that's also my birthday.

Crash Space and Meal Plan

This place is huge so it could be like a giant sleep over for 20 - 40 people. Also we could pool groceries and kitchen help to make a meal plan. Actual beds would be assigned when RSVP via PM. Otherwise it would be cots and air mattresses. You'd know what type of crash space you had before getting here and what needed to be brought if demand exceeds our camping gear.

I should perhaps mention...

...I'm in a wheelchair. Is that going to be a problem? From what few photographs I saw, I fear it might.

Elevator available

THere is an elevator which reaches all but the fourth story roof room. Being in a wheel chair would not be any problem for participation based on accessibility. Also I'm a certified nursing assistant so I'm trained to aid in transfers. If you don't require a hoyer and assistance with your ADL's then you'd be okay. Please PM me with any special requirements and this far out I may be able to provide a solution.

Give me a few weeks notice

Give me a few weeks notice and ll be there if it in or near Atlanta. Will need someone to pick me in Atlanta or near the site.

Transportation from ATL airport

I'll be available for transportation to and from the Airport and we can also manage crash space here at the castle for the weekend. We've got plenty of floor space but not a lot of bed space. Let's see what the firm date for the west coast BCTS picnic is since I would love to have some kind of internet connection between the two. Southern Comfort 2014 is coming up too so if the BCTS Picnic hasn't been scheduled yet, I'll do a picnic here that weekend. That's Sept 3-7 and the weekend after Labor Day Weekend in the US. (It would be cool if Lavendar Rose Press was a Vendor at SC 2014)

Given the number

of UK members, somewhere mid Atlantic should be about right.

Even more

Even more if you include the rest of Europe ;-)

Bermuda?

Because the Azores are probably too close.

Bet the Airfare is cheaper to ATL

Bet the Airfare is cheaper to ATL, I wouldn't want to fly into Bermuda in the middle of Hurricane season.

Airfares equally expensive

Just did a quick search and flights for 3-7 Sep are exactly the same for both destinations. Considering the connections involved for both I know which I would favour but neither are within my budget.

The ideal place

Both Woodruffs and me know a nice little campsite overlooked by Tryfan in North Wales.

Just a suggestion...

I would be interested,

but I doubt I could make it unless it was in Atlanta or somewhere closer, like Dallas. Just a side note, Texas is not real TG friendly, though Dallas seems to be.

tg friendly

I know Arizona aint tb friendly but if I have a firm date oll try t8 make it to the one in socal

belle

Atlanta is TG Friendly

Atlanta is TG Friendly. Southern Comfort Conference which is going on Septermber 3-7 has been for some years now, the largest conference for TG people in the world.

My best wishes for your picnic - the administrators of BC in particular deserve a great time for all their hard work.

Comments from different countries made me wonder what would be the ideal, site for a picnic (time and money no object). Polynesia came to mind with a strong 3rd gender culture which might appeal to many BC members. So far I haven't noticed this referred to in any BC stories and wonder if an opportunity is being missed.
