Elvin Question Update.

For everyone who has been asking where chapter 11 for Elvin Question is please forgive the delay. The reason behind the delay is not a simple one. On the 10th of January my youngest daughter Karen contracted meningococcal meningitis. On Monday 16th the doctors were forced to amputate Karen’s legs just above her knees. I don’t understand the full medical diagnosis, but it had something to do with the petechial rash on her lower legs progressing to the point of becoming gangrene. I was finally able to bring her home yesterday afternoon. For all of you who are parents I would only make one suggestion. If you haven’t gotten your child, the meningococcal vaccine please do so as soon as possible. No child should suffer from a disease that can be prevented. I hope to return to my writing shortly. Until then please be paticnet.

Love and Hugs

Please know that we are thinking of you and your family. It is a small thing that we can do, but it is well meant.

Love and Hugs,
Erin

= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.

What can I say?

I am distressed to hear your news. Such a thing is sad to contemplate, especially in the daughter of someone I consider a friend. I wish there was something I and the others could do to help. Please remember you and your daughter are in our thoughts and our hearts. Don't worry about storytelling, take care of your family and yourself.

Hugs,
Karen

I have been blessed…….

With three healthy children, a loving spouse, and a surprisingly supportive family. Truly more than I deserve, and more than I ever expected. For all the things I have done in my life, for the things I have failed to do, for all the sins I have committed, why I have been so lucky is beyond me.

You and your family will be in my thoughts. I know that may not seem like much, but if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.

The true metal of a person can only be found in the testing. This is your test, and I know that your strength will bring you and your daughter through this tough time.

WJ so sorry to hear that, please give her a hug from me and tell her that life isn't over, I was told I'd be in a wheelchair by the time I'm 50 when I was 10 (I've got Hypermobility in both knees and they dislocate whenever they feel like it) then at 27 I was told I'd never drive for a living anymore after a really bad car accident. I'm now 52 and still walking n driving for a living :)

First off, I am so sorry about what has happened, all I can offer is encouragement to take it one day at a time and try to make your daughter as whole again as possible.

I wholeheartedly backup the sentiment that a parent vaccinate as much as possible to spare their children of needless pain and suffering.

Every time I think of the suffering of children due to anti-vax parents who consciously and knowingly withhold obvious protection it just makes me so mad.

I am not accusing you of being anti-vax obviously but I fear for those who willingly ignore your Witness to this need and they will suffer for it.

*sigh*

I am so sorry to hear this. Prayers that she can heal and regain as much mobility as possible!

I am one of the many waiting for the next instalment on High Winds.
I figured that something serious was going on for Jess to be unable to post anything.

As others have already said, I am sorry to hear of your news and the terrible events that have fallen on to your family. I will pray for continued healing and progress back towards independent mobility for your daughter.

Oh Fudge!

Our best thoughts, prayers and hearts go out to you, your daughter and the rest of your family. It's bad enough when one of the old folks in a family has medical issues but when it is one of our kids -- the pain level and angst increases exponentially. Personal experience here since we are primary caregivers for a wheelchair-bound disabled teen who has multiple medical and physical issues!

Sending prayerful hugs your way!

You have may sympathies.

You have may sympathies. Having to see your kid's legs being aputated has to be heartbreaking.
What's important about meningococcal disease is that treament starts immediately if there's only a suspicion of this disease, i.e. waiting for the diagnosis wastes precious time. Unfortunately that doesn't help your daughter anymore, except maybe a claim for damages if treatment started much too late.

And don't worry about the next chapter, your familiy comes 1st, take as long as you need.

*hugs*

Thinking of you

The Elven question is secondary to your kids issues. We can and will wait until you feel up to writing again,Keep strong

It's Been a While

Like the others, I have been waiting to see something from you, so I decided today to check on recent posts that I may have missed. Sorry to hear about your daughter, that has to be tough, no idea how I would feel if it were one of mine.

Finding this post certain explains the delay, and knowing that it's something that you can eventually get back to lightens my worries.. Hopefully your daughter is healing well physically AND mentally. While your stories are truly treasured, loved ones should be treasured more. What you and your family are going through is much more important than how long we have to wait for you to be ready again.

Best Wishes, and your family will be in my prayers!
