Feeling better today, an unscheduled bunch of showers settled the dust, so not as many sneezles, even though the wind is still blowing.

Opened an old file for a story called Masquerade War, which I have never written but first conceived of in about 1969. I really haven't written it in part because Marvel did a similar idea in their Secret Wars event. Sigh, not the first time something like that has happened.

Anyway, here are some of the quotes from this file:

"How do you know if the Earth's been invaded and conquered by shape-changing aliens? You don't!" -- Basically the tagline for the whole concept.

"If you're chasing somebody and they seem to disappear leaving nothing but a few pieces of plastic, what has happened? The potato has escaped!" -- This is older than but reminds me of Piper's little boy, Liam, whose secret identity is The Ninja Potato. :)

"It's hard to get people to think of you as the hero when your superpower is turning people into monsters." -- This is the complaint of Monsterous, the main character in Masquerade War.

"We're going to fight for our lives, and the lives of everyone we love and even the lives of people we don't like and who don't like us. Are we good with this? We're golden." -- From Monsterous's peptalk to his followers before the climactic battle with The Wreckoners.

"If we're going to take off our masks, let's be sure to have a mirror handy. We wouldn't want to forget who we really are." -- Another quote from the lead up to the big battle.

Ah, me. I just don't see me ever writing this story, but maybe I can salvage some of these quotes. I should hope to live long enough to do that.

Hugs,
Erin
