Erin has posted a link to my latest collection of short stories on Amazon, and I thought that I should write a short blog on this anthology.
Erin had something to do with some of the stories as well. The first story "A Misunderstanding" arose from her one line suggestion: “Tommy's voice hasn't changed and he gets mistaken for his Mom on the phone, a lot. One day, he goes along with the gag”. Also "Life is Like a Wheel" has been published here and was based on a seed from her. Readers may also recognize "Accidental Princess" from a competition on this site posed by Erin. Finally, "Oddity" is about chimeric twins which is something that both she and I had been working on independently - she is still to write her story on this phenomenon.
The other unpublished stories in this volume are my reworkings of shorter works in "Troublesome" and "Pharmacology".
But this volume contains some of my own personal favorites now properly edited and refined. The ones that I have in mind are: "Head Injury" - a man wakes up after a blow to the head and declares that he is trans, but was he always?; "The Slit" which is about as close as I get to fantasy describing a change that must be magical; "Jonni" - a maintenance man enters and old building and discovers its resident is a eunuch - shades of "Being There"; "Androgen Insensitivity" about the fictional acquired version of that; "New Contract" about a hitman changing gender; and "Thai Plastic" about sex change surgery being performed on the wrong person.
I hope that people will understand that in my short stories I am always striving for difference. I am sure that I exclude this site, but across the web there is plenty of formulaic writing in TG Fiction, and I am always trying to mix things up with new ideas or new ways of telling the story.
I am presently working on my next book themed on disguise - people in hiding or undercover choosing the opposite gender and finding themselves permanently female.
I am open to other themes if anybody has any ideas?
Based on my existing published and completed stories I have at least 10 more books that can be put together.
