Great news of course

Of course there were commentators here in the past who claim the 'ex' was not anti-trans. Yeah, sure.

Not wishing to be a downer

but as this is a Presidential Order it would be overturned by the next GOP( or Trump Party) President.
The GOP are very vocal about repealing Roe vs Wade and making Abortion a capital crime.
Unless there is an amendment to the constitution, there is always a danger that moves for sexual and gender equality will be on a knife-edge. Allowed by one party, banned by the other.
A really sad state of affairs and given some of the new intake of numpties in Congress now, anything is possible.

The "Capital Crime" Part...

...didn't work when they tried it on the campaign trail in 2016. I think it was Trump who brought it up; whoever it was had to backpedal after suggesting that the woman who had the abortion had committed a felony. They want to blame the Evil Abortionist and not the instigator, which isn't the way it works on any other "murder for hire" plot.

Anyway, the connection between abortion and non-cis gender presentation isn't a very strong one, except that the religious right objects to both.

Doesn't change your point that this is an executive directive, not a law passed by Congress, and it applies only until a new Chief Executive decides to change it. But this (gender presentation in the military) seemed to come out of nowhere last time, and I'm not sure it'll stay on the agenda unless Trump or a surrogate is the next GOP candidate.

President for Life

We all know Trump couldn't help saying what he was thinking.

Many times on the campaign trail he spoke to a desire to be a president for life.

He established a roadmap. All we need to do is to find a guy to lead the far left. . .Maybe someone who wears mittens . . . And install him (and his named successors) through mob rule to be POTUS for life.

Sound crazy or seditious? Evidently 75% of the Republican party thinks that's the American way.

I have many good friends and business partners who are Republicans. I've supported and voted for many Republicans -- but today's party is a cesspool.

The sane members of that party need to stand up immediately and state that they "we're misled" by Trump. They need to affirm that Biden is the affirmed president.

That would isolate the crazies.

There are valid differences of opinion. Abortion and capital punishment are two that should be constantly debated. But violent overthrow of government to achieve a political end is morally bankrupt.

We trans people have been a political football for far too long. We are not deviants. We are not second class citizens. Any politician who says otherwise isn't iff-informed. They are sick demented people who shouldn't have a public office.

We are one step away from people with antlers on their heads mobbing up to rid the world of trans. . .for the good of us all.

Antlered people

Well that is why transpeople who are stealthy do so for a reason.

There has always been a debate as to whether it pays to pass or not and/or let it all hang out and be totally open and public about ones' transness.

This current situation is the possible deadly downside of doing so.

I have always advocated that being passable is a very important goal, one that should be done as well as possible despite the difficulties.

Being passable does not mean stealth but gives you an option to be out only as much as you want to be out.

It can even save your life.
