Research the url in this blog. It may help if you are behind in rent, or need food, or help with utility bills. I know several who have gotten help while we wait for the politicians to get their collective heads out of their asses and pass another stimulus check.

There is money out there that was left over from the first stimulus package in March that was given out to state and local governments that was "use it of lose it." They didn't use it and it's now coming back to the government and can be repurposed for stimulus and other things...to the tune of in excess of 1.6 TRILLION dollars...just so far!!!!

The videos in the url can show you how to apply for grants and other things that can help pay bills, or help with food or utilities or other pressing things during this terrible time...like student loan forgiveness, mortgage assistance or eviction moratoriums and rental assistance.

Please listen to all of whatever video you select, I suggest the newest ones, as it is a bit convoluted regarding how to apply, who to call, talk to, etc. I'm just trying to help if I can. If you think this guy is a farce or untrue, ignore him and what he says... but this is all I can do to try to help those of us who are running on empty cashwise.

House

The house passed another round of stimulus in May but McConnell refuses to allow a vote on it. It’s called the HEREOS act.

nOt talking about them.

this has nothing to do with the Senate or the house. This is about what's available right now, not what gets passed into law. There are grants available right now for rental assistance, food, and a lot of other things...and we don't want Pelosi's bill anyway. It's mostly money for big businesses, not assistance to us regular people.

Anyway, click the link and see what I'm talking about. Again, this has nothing to do with legislature or what they're squabbling about right now. What LALate is talking about is money that you can get right now, regardless of what the house and senate do. GRANTS...RENTAL ASSISTANCE...FOOD HELP...EIDL LOANS FOR SMALL BUSINESSES AND THOSE WITH "SIDE HUSTLES" LIKE UBER OR OTHER SOURCES OF INCOME THAT AREN'T THEIR MAIN JOBS.

Sorry about the caps!!! Didn't mean to yell.

People Who Don't Need It

I heard the other day that the stimulus money sent out so far is equal to what could have been $25,000 sent to each individual.

I received a very large PPP loan for my business. This will be 100% forgiven because I maintained my full payroll.

It will be all profit to me as my business has been better this year than before. I've made many charitable contributions with this. Mainly to food shelves. I've also purchased quite a lot of gift certificates from local restaurants and given them to the Salvation Army to distribute. Just yesterday I donated a number of new blankets.

My guess is my philanthropy will NOT be matched by a big percentage of businesses who received the same windfall.

I believe the best way to stimulate the economy is to put the money into the hands of the consumer. Adam Smith would agree.

I just received notice from the State that I need to come in and renew my driver's license. I'm 72 with heart disease. I go only to the grocery store and drug store and don't do that very often. The state has shut down non-essential businesses and asked us to basically forget holiday gatherings. Yet they want me to stand in line at the DMV.

That's as stupid as Mnuchin standing the stimulus bill on its head to interpret a January 1 min-renewal to shut down the program you're discussing.

Talk about burning down the house!

DMV wants me to stand in line too.

I'm 73 with COPD and oxygen equipment. Not gonna stand in line for ANY reason. Plus I'd need an eye exam to boot. Well, don't have a car anyway...got a cataract in one eye and have nowhere to go and nothing to do when I get there...so who needs a DL?

Right now, Jill...there are funds coming back to the government from the original stimulus money that was sent out to states, cities, etc for rent, mortgages, etc. So far almost 1.6 TRILLION has come back with more to come since those who were supposed to give out those funds...didn't and the funds are under a "use it or lose it" caveat which ends in Dec.

So whatever is still out there is still available in the form of grants etc and that's what my blog post was about. But it won't be out there much longer. Several things like unemployment enhancement, EIDL loans, and other programs end in December, so Congress, Senate etc. need to get of their butts and renew stimulus and stimulus checks.

That 1.6 trillion is NOT part of the national treasury, but is in a few non legislative accounts like SBA. It could easily be repurposed and re-sent out to prop up unemployment or checks to individuals, either by voted on bills or even by Executive order, since the President doesn't need to go through congress or the senate to use it, not for THIS money. He'd need legislative approval for any money from the national treasury, but this 1.6 trillion is NOT part of the treasury.

Meanwhile, the things I mentioned in my blog entry are STILL available if one knows how to go about finding and applying for them.
