We had a serious database problem this morning involving four stories that got corrupted. We rescued the text of the four stories, though we had to repost Badasses of the Multiverse 14 which got lost somewhere between here and Miraz (which is a star in the Big Dipper).

Anyway, the problem may have been caused by a DOS attack, we're not sure.

But Paul Cousins, Shauna, Louise Anne, and Taralyn should check their stories to be sure they have been restored properly. I'm sorry but if anyone had made comments on those four stories or left kudos, those are gone.

Hugs,
Erin

Thank you, for the heads up.

Thank you for the heads up, Erin.

I am already working on fixing the latest chapter of my story.

I thought it was just maintenance last night. I hope everything is fine right now with you, and this Big Closet.

Though, given the way I am working the plot of that chapter, and what is discussed in that chapter, I am not surprised that the website buffer had problems with this chapter.

For those that don't know, I am trying to push the limits of insanity one can put into a story, while still having that story be coherent to read.

To answer your question.

DOS stands for "denial of service" attack. This type of attack uses several thousand, to millions, of hacked computers are directed to click on the same website, all at once, in the hopes of crashing that websites server. This type of computer attack has been around for a while. It is not used a lot because servers has been upgraded to counter it, by throttling how many times each user can access a website, over a given course of time.

It also stripped out the changes I made to mine, and also stripped off the HTML commands that I had included for layout of the title and so on .... I think I have managed to get it back into order now. I had made some changes, previewed them, and then was unable to save said changes.

So others who may have edited their work are probably affected too.
