Tears from a Bottle

Tears in a Bottle

One night, as I lay weeping in my bed, I fell asleep, and began to dream. In my dream, I was lifted up and passed through the gates beyond this life. Once there, I was attended by beings so vast and powerful I felt such shame just being in their presence I could hardly stand it.

But then He came, and I felt much worse.

It wasnt any particular sin that gave me pause, but everything about me was just so small and petty I expected Him to look at me with disgust.

But he didnt.

thankful at Christmas

Well, I would like to take a break from my regularly scheduled whining and remember all the gifts i have been given this Christmas. These are in no particular order, but here goes:

1: my home. In a time when far too many have none, i have a safe, warm bed, a fridge full of food, lights, TV, internet, and i can dress how i please in it

2: My mom. Her acceptance of me as Dorothy has simply amazed me, and gives me such comfort when i am struggling.

3: My daughter. I love that bundle of energy more than i thought i could love anyone, and i know she feels the same about me.

Inspection time

Author's note. This isn't exactly a Christmas story. It is a story that takes place at Christmas, and that's different.

Inspection Time

It was inspection time in Hell again. Once a year, on the anniversary of the beginning of that terrible period called the Incarnation, an angel came down to the dark pit and observed.

At first, this had rankled Satan. He felt like it was rubbing his face in it. But after a while, he realized it was an opportunity to show off his successes, and it seemed like there were more of those every year.

Dreams and Truth

It should be raining, Robert thought. It seemed like whenever there was a funeral in the movies or on TV, it was raining. But for a early November afternoon, it was sunny and warm. He found it hard to grieve for his mother. In one way, she had been gone for a while, lost in Alzheimer’s.

He found it also ironic that she would be buried today, on November 11, Remembrance Day. She had been, after all, the daughter of a soldier, and a soldier’s wife. For some reason the old poem came into his mind.

THE VIEW FROM HEAVEN: A DREAM

thanks Angela Rasch for the assistance

One night, as I slept, I began to dream. In my dream, I passed through the clouds to the gates of Heaven. I was met by an angel, who said to me, “Welcome, child of Adam. I am called Brigthtwings. I will be your guide today.”

“Did I die in my sleep, Brightwings? How can I be here?”

The angel said, “No, my friend, you have not died. God has permitted you this dream, so that you may understand his purposes better.”
