Hide blog posts from a user for only me?

Printer-friendly version

Forums:

Is there a way to hide, for only me, the blog posts of a particular user in this version of the BCTS software?

I remember some kind of 'Block User' available in an earlier version of BCTS.

I found the 'Ignore User' link at the bottom of one of their posts. However that configuration still displays them in the blogs shortcuts and even gives an abbreviated teaser where the first line of their post is displayed.

We had a block user function

...but it no longer works since the software update about a year ago. It's not been a high priority to get it working again since I got just as many complaints about HOW it worked as I get now that it DOESN'T work. :)

We may get a roundtuit and fix it sometime. No promises.

Hugs,
Erin

Yay! It's working!

Piper, I adore you! Suddenly, the people (who were already) on my ignore list are muted again! And my somewhat chancy temper is soothed ....

:-)

Amy!

Thank You Erin and Piper

Thank you Piper and Erin for getting this feature working again. I appreciate your work on this and for all that you do to make BCTS such a wonderful community

Called a Troll

Daphne Xu's picture

A couple times, I've been accused of being a Troll, when I wasn't. Once that happens, in my experience, it's difficult to be unaccused. And of course, if I'm banned, it means I'm banned from challenging the ban -- or even finding out why I was banned. I was operating under a different pseudonym, so I really don't want to discuss the details here. But all I could do is outside their forum, keep pointing out their mindless incompetence.

Never had it happen (to my knowledge) but...

...every blog entry I make, I fear I've unintentionally said something that would alienate somebody here. That's especially true when a blog entry of mine has an unusually low number of reads.

Blog reader numbers

Judging by the number of reads my own, admittedly infrequent, blogs get, I wonder if most of the readership of this site even know our blogs exist.

Even when I post notices about matters SEE related I get far fewer reads and comments than I would have expected from the numbers of SEE readers.

We just have to accept that some come here only for the stories and aren't interested in the lives or interests of the authors, however much our egos may desire otherwise.

For all I know, I'm the one you want to block.

If that is NOT the case, however, here is my take on the subject. --- I personally use my organic computer to block things in which I have no interest. i.e. I just pass-by/ignore posts that I think might upset/bore me. The reason I don't use the electronic computer's blocking is; I have found that gems of information CAN sometimes come from sources that I would LEAST expect and my brain is a better filter than a blanket eblock.
