Two New Features - Stats Block and Monthly Archive

Printer-friendly version

Forums:

I've just added two new features to the site, one frequently requested and one asked for long ago.

The first is the new Kudos voting block (along with other stats) that will appear in the top right column when a story is loaded. It will list the current Kudos count, have a thumbs up icon for voting, and also list current comment and views count. If you've already voted on a story, clicking on the thumb will do nothing.

The second new feature is the Monthly Story List, available in the Navigation menu. It lists the total of stories posted in each month back a little over ten years. Clicking on the month will bring up the teaser display for stories from that month. :)

Hugs,
Erin

Kudo button

I just wanted to mention that before the revamping, the "good story" button did zilch for or to my computer/browser.
Now, the thumbs-up icon does work for me (even without being logged in). And cursoring over the button shows a link now when it did not before.
I do like it better this way, but I figure you need information in case it is not meant to be this way.
Thankyou

Finding author's stories

I like the new Kudos voting block, it seems more reliable so far.

I was wondering about something else though. Before the big update recently, when clicking on the author's name I would get to a page like http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/morpheus or http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/author/maggie-finson . Since the update, clicking their name send me to their user page, which is a lot less useful. I might be missing something but the only way I've found to get to the author pages has been through Google search since the update.

The name is in two places.

On stories the authors name is normally in two place, after "Submitted by" and a little lower and smaller after "Author". You want the link you get when you click the one after "Author".

This confused me too until I figured it out.
