New feature: |Tags| in the top menu brings up tag clouds showing the popularity (by how many stories) of the various Themes and Elements available for coding stories in BCTS.

Kinda cool

But no one has commented. Oh, well. :) This is about the lowest overhead way of listing categories there is, weirdly enough.

I'll bite, see you on Cloud Nine

I was a little curious myself but obsessed with another entry for Stardust.

Do you mean these Tag Cloud say things like, boy to girl 30 stories, age reduction 25 stories, sci--fi 50 stories, magic 12 stories etc?

Or do yor mean the nember of reads per catagory?

If I have it correct it is the type size in which the Theme name or the Element name is shown that represents its popularity. The benefit of this for a fat-fingered klutz like me is that it makes the popular ones easier to hit with my mouse.

Erin, I assume that the "lowest overhead" comment refers to system/server resources? I ask because in terms of the wetware at this end the resource overhead is also lowered - one picture is worth a tousand words sort of thing.

I've never searched on these two features; your posting led me to look out of blind curiosity, and now it's something that I'll use. Judging by some of the comments elsewhere, which indicate that extra categories (whether they be Themes or Elements) could be of value, this way of ranking them will also be of value. If the lists increase in size, the clarity benefit of using a graphical representation is likely to increase also.

The type size indicates number of stories, and yes, this is an incredibly low over head in terms of system resources. Each of those pictures represents a single database call, it's incredibly clever code. :)

The roll your own "Other Categories" are not presently available to be included in this sort of cloud, too bad. But it isn't hard for me to add categories, unlike in FM's system.

Hope it is useful.

Hugs,
