Sorrow such a Blessing Is

Printer-friendly version
Sorrow such a blessing is for without it we know not joy
trouble amoung us deigns to walk that triumph to us teach
Despair shall rear it’s ugly head that courage we may mind
and enemies threaten all around that friends we may soon find.

Death, that old cheater, thinks us still to claim
and makes with every single breath we take
to pound us down again
All that effort to seize our soul
that is the way of Death
BUT
LIFE, He gives us to our soul and death He gives to Death

Know the joys and the triumphs in your hands to take
courage with each breath I pray
to know of others as good your friends
from across these savage lands.
Cheat the cheater and sink death
far beneath the waves
by accepting LIFE’s blessings strong
and taking the “one” way.

One way means not a single path
but a destination, tis true.
And upon this if you understand
then there shall you go too.

Thank you T.D.

This is really written with emotion and understanding of the human condition. It is written in the style of Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, and all the other great poets. There is a lot of truth in your chosen words, and we can learn from the moral. But it seems that there is way too much sorrow these days; too many wars, killings, crimes, deaths. People are too busy looking behind them to see if anyone is following to be happy. And while we were sleeping the world went to hell in a hand basket.

Thank you T.D. for sharing your thoughts on sorrow, joy, death, life, and the paths we have to take to arrive at our destination.

Sorrow such a Blessing Is

Is so TRUE! For without knowing the valleys, how can we know the mountains?

A wonderful poem and I loved

A wonderful poem and I loved how it fits us all in some small way. Sadly, I wonder if Teddi knew that it was all about her when she wrote it. I do miss her e-mails we used to send back and forth to each other. Jan
