If you buy anything from Amazon via a link here at BCTS, we make a small commission. And especially on DopplerPress books for which we get between 11% and 74% of the purchase price. But all purchases made at Amazon, of anything from ant paste to zymurgy tablets, in the 90 minutes after clicking on a link here, pay us between 2% and 10% (average about 4%) of the purchase price. It's all good. :)

So here's some links to some of our recent books:

Any of those links will take you to your Amazon, wherever in the world you are so you can then shop and know that BC will get the referral credit.

Thanks,
Erin, Piper, Cat, Kayleigh, Tom, Amy and Leigh (The DopplerPress Crew)

Amazon Marketplace and Third Party

erin's picture

Yes, we still get a commission. The simple way to say it is that from the time you follow a link from one of our sites until you place an order for items put into your cart within 24 hours and complete payment for items ordered within 89 days, almost everything you purchase at Amazon earns us a commission. One-click purchases made in that 24 hours also count. There are other wrinkles, like if a customer follows a different link from some other affiliate before checking out then our claim on that customer's purchases is ended.

Someone once bought a lawn tractor through Amazon, a Third Party purchase, and we got a commission although at that time we were limited to commissions on only the first $1000 of a single item's cost. :)

How does this interact with

How does this interact with Amazon Smile? Do you get your commission, and the charity I selected also get a contribution?
For example, I have a tab open on "smile.amazon.com", then I click on a BCTS Amazon link, opening a new tab on amazon.com. If I buy something in the previously open Amazon Smile tab within the 90 minutes, do you get your commission?

{I leave a trail of Kudos as I browse the site. Be careful where you step!}

Smile is a different affiliate, even though part of Amazon

If you open smile.amazon.com then click a link from BC to amazon, then WE are the latest affiliate and we get the commission, Smile does not.

And it is no longer 90 minutes, it became 24 hours in March.

It gets complicated, though. If you open Smile, put stuff in your cart there, then click BC and put something in the cart from BC, then if you order... we get commission only on the last items you put in your cart and NO ONE gets commission on the items you put in the cart from Smile. See?

Question?

Would a person using a kobo be able to read the stories purchased through Amazon or Doppler Press? I am looking at purchasing one to allow my self to purchase some of the stories and help BC out.

Why not purchase a Kindle

You can get one for $50 and sometimes less and then their massive inventory is available including many free books. All you need is a wifi connection or a pc to download the stories and take them with you anywhere. In fact I'm writing this on one while waiting for my sister to get out of bible study. I got this larger one on sale for $85.

Kobo

I think Kobos can read the underlying format of the Kindle and if not, you can use something like Caliber to convert. A Kobo is one of the few types of ereaders I don't have one of to test with. :)

Amazon doesn't usually list

Amazon doesn't usually list it on the store page, but if lending is enabled and simultaneous device usage is unlimited, that means Calibre will be able to convert it.

Most Doppler Press works should work. (God Bless the Child may be an exception). Some other publishers' works also.

Amazon Commissions

I am an Australian resident and when I try to purchase on line I am told to resubmit via Amazon.au
Does the commission flow through when this happens or is their a work, around so I am purchasing via Amazon.us.

Amazon.au

At the current time, Amazon.AU does not offer an affiliate program for US or UK residents. So we're just out of luck unless you are buying one of our books. :)

Commissions

erin's picture

We get affiliate commissions from US, UK and CA. We may be able in the near future to get commissions from DE and the other EU countries. AU, JP, IN and other countries have so far not offered an affiliate program. The Americas and the Caribbean, other than MX and BR, go through US so we do get commissions there. Some Asian and African countries go through US also.

Good idea

I shall make sure I order through here the next time I need ant paste. Right now I need to find out what ant paste is/does, as I have never had the need to paste an ant to anything.

Ant paste

erin's picture

Homemade ant "paste" is sugar, borax and water—more of a solution really. The commercial stuff is something else. It used to be made by Kellogg's; not the Battle Creek family, a Los Angeles branch. With the homemade stuff, ants eat the sugar and the borax reacts with the formic acid in the insect (which is what gives ants their vinegary smell). This makes boric acid, dissolving them from the inside out. Gruesomeness on a tiny scale.

Cheap kitty litter mixed with borax will do the trick too. The kitty litter is abrasive and scratches the ants waxy skin coating letting the borax get at the softer parts that contain formic acid. What a world, what a world!

Me, I just sprinkle cinnamon and hot pepper flakes where they come in at. They don't like the stuff but it doesn't kill them. Still, cinnamon won't stop a runaway nuclear reactor but borax will.
