Father's Day 2011

Father’s Day 2011.
by
Angharad.

I opened the card with excitement, it was Father’s Day–one of the better imports from the United States.

The card bore a picture of the Blue Planet the earth from a space craft or high flying plane, I’d keep it with the previous ones–each a precious gift from my daughter.

Inside wrapped in bubble-wrap was a small gift, like there had been last year and the ones before, which I gently undid and examined–a bat vehicle excise licence holder — a joke prezzie–and some drop earrings--Happy Parent’s Day, Ang, Love, Siân. X

Father's Day 2011

For me, this day I remember my father's Love for me, rather than him in decline. I lost him as a child and still miss him.

An unusual day

I know it was fathers day but I awoke in pain and nauseated. My daughter, a young woman who has grown tremendously since April 18th was sad that I was not up to celebrating. Later in the day I decided to get cleaned up and take her out for dinner.
I told her that I saw this as a day for me as her father to celebrate her, because without her I would have no day to celebrate.

I lost my dad when I was 13. its been a holiday that I did not celebrate for 24 years. then my daughter came along.
It warms the cockles of my heart to hear of how others celebrate this day. Angharad thank you for sharing you enjoyable day with us. It is well appreciated by me.

I'm glad it worked out for you.

Now if I can just decide what to do with a bat sticker - I wonder if Robin has one?

reason to...

Thankyou so very much! for years since my dear father died, and my mother, also, i have regretted not being able to get them a present... but now, thanks to you, and your dear, lovely concept of those days, i have two extra reasons to celebrate! They are not dead, just gone on ahead, as is the order of things, but so sad and empty for those of us who love them, but left behind. I shall try to share this wonderful idea of yours, so that many, many others may also have reasons to celebrate, instead of to mourn. God bless you, save you and keep you.

Yes, Wonderful

Father's Day cards I loved from my son and his mother and gifts from both, it was her birthday also this year and I gave her a set of Japanese design salad plates that she coveted and she gave me a lovely designer scarf in black, grey and tan . but best of all her and I and my son and his fiancee and our two soon to be grand children spent the day together in the park just being family.
The 4 year old was so cute the day before when we met for the first time. My son, Sean told him, This is my Daddy, Joani." The little boy looked at me and said."You're a girl." I replied," Yep, girls can be Daddies too". "Oh, OK" and back to the serious business of playing. You've gotta love 4 yr olds.
