Nice story about high school transgendered junior allowed to attend prom as her girlself. Sounds like she had a great time.

She actually looks nicer to me...

...with short hair; she looks cute. The picture of her sitting down between her parents...the expression on her face is priceless! Thanks for sharing this.

She looks adorable

Normally I don't care much for short hair on girls, but it works really well for her, and that prom dress is gorgeous.

I'm so glad she's able to be herself, and that she's being accepted by her parents and classmates (Judging by the article, it sounds like "she" is more appropriate than "he" the article writer uses, since she's been wearing girls' clothes and makeup for a couple of years now/wanting to make the name Hailee permanent :-D)

Go Hailee! ^_^

'obviously a very happy girl and no wonder, with the love and acceptance of her Mum and Dad.

As one commentator said...

They could at least have had the decency to call Hailee by her chosen name and use feminine pronouns. It's nice that the comments are also very supportive, although evidently someone's been having fun clicking on the red (negative rating) arrows...

Those ratings

Whenever I see one of the Wail's stories, I look at the comments, and as mittfh says, the ratings say it all. Pronoun use, aggressively nasty comment rating, so typical, but hey, it's a story about a freak in a dress, that will draw the readers in.
I could weep. Nevertheless, what a lucky, lucky girl.

Despite the article's tone

the shining light is the acceptance of the family and friends. With that you can cope with the slings and arrows of outrageous journalists.

Preferred the shorter wig, and she could do with some advice about sitting carefully in a short skirt.

Good on yer, Mum & Dad.

Great news

Well, given it was the Daily Mail it was a surprisingly balanced article, pronouns apart. She sounds like she has great parents and friends too. I just hope the publicity doesn't adversely impact as she works out what she wants to do with her life. But most of all, it was fantastic to see that happy smile on her.

OMG!

Those are about the worst photos I've seen! How could her mom let her have those shots with the fishnets done. That blonde wig doesn't do a thing for her either! The shot with the shorter brunette wig was probably the best, IF it was cropped at the waist. The makeup? The less said the better.

I just wonder why she hasn't let her hair grow out?

I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.

Looking at the dad, I was

Looking at the dad, I was going to say that his expression looks a bit forced. On closer examination, I would guess that he doesn't really care to have his picture taken, and his expression always looks that way for a posed shot.

He looks so pretty with the shorter hair than he does with

blonde wig. The shorter natural hair makes him look more like a natural girl than the blonde wig does. It is so nice to have his parents approval for his decision to dress en femme for the prom. Then dancing with a couple of the boys who knew he was a boy, is just so precious, especially when the article says Tom said they didn't care. I do hope that Haillie is going to be around forever, she deserves it.

We also need more schools that accept transgendered students both in the faculty and student body. We need curriculum in our schools too that teach why transgendered people are the way we are, and while that may be hard to do, they can at least teach the basics.

This is what I have been saying. Here is a teenage person who was bullied but got out of the closet and went to the Prom dressed the way she should have been and was accepted.

So ladies, what is your problem? Get out of that stupid closet and go out and enjoy yourself and don't worry about how others perceive you; go out and have fun. You can't be recognized for who you are if nobody can see you. Time to wake up ladies, it is a brand new day. Look at my quotes below and follow them.
