Original title: Rebekah Anne Bettencourt

This was a screenplay when it was first written and it was my entry into the first year of “Project Greenlight”. It made it past the first round (which is not saying too much...) but was eliminated due to it’s pacing and the fact that I broke the rules of writing a spec script and (gasp) used music cues.

The storyline has always been about a high school and a junior high school student but the character design of Rebekah changed multiple times before she was brought back to the original version. The subplot with Paul did not exist and there was actually “singing”—it was kind of a musical with a Celtic/Nova Scotian influence.

Trivia Notes
The flashbacks about “Sam” are real…except for the airport scene (but I probably would have done it)
Jeannie and Rebekah Bettencourt are based on real life sisters.
The character names are from guitarists Izzy Stradin and Numo Bettencourt
The use of Aselin Debison’s music is a carryover from the screenplay and remain as the mood for each chapter. And yes, this is the same singer whose song titles are referenced in "I Am Rosemary's Granddaughter"
