Got a nice complement yesterday. I generally go to the local stores around my home fully in my feminine presentation, I'm usually pretty casual. Pants and a nice blouse, a little lipstick; everything without a doubt women's.

Yesterday, I needed to go see my endocrinologist so he could check my thyroid. I hadn't been in a couple of years. I also was having trouble with wax build up in my right ear, making me nearly totally deaf in that ear, so I scheduled an appointment to have that ear flushed that afternoon. I took the day off work and decided to go all out. I wore a white pullover blouse with some nice ruffles around the neckline, and a grey pleated skirt, some jet black pantyhose and some flats with an ankle strap.

As side bar, while at my endo appointment, the lady doing the check in noted on my profile that I preferred to be call "Pat" rather than the male name listed on my chart and alerted the rest of staff after confirming with me that was the case. So I was "Pat" for that visit. :o)

Now to the point of this post. On the way home, I stopped by my local Bi-mart where I shop often. The workers there are used to me en femme and have always been quite courteous. One of the things on my list was a mop. While looking for the mop, one of the ladies who work there, that I've interacted with before, noticed me searching and asked what I wanted. She directed to right aisle with her usual good customer service smile. A little later we passed each other going down the main aisle and again showing good customer service she asked if I was finding everything OK. After I assured her I was, she added, "You look really nice today." I thanked her and kept shopping with a smile.

Wonderful!

Isn't it just amazing how that one sentence can make your day? Five seconds of kindness can erase hours of depression for me.

I was always raised to be polite to others, and I believe that a kind word and a polite action can go a long way toward making this a better world.

But...

sorry to put a dampener on it,

but if a man said exactly the same words, the outcome could have been very different. The male could even have been fired for sexual harrasment. Sad state of affairs.

Those of us who are not or never will come out as transgendered have to be really careful not to let their real side come out in case it lands them in deep shite. The PC brigade have a lot to answer for IMHO.
