Sunday, November 17, 2013 on 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Cathedral of Hope, 5910 Cedar Springs Rd., Dallas, TX 75235 is having Transgender Day of Remembrance. Dallas 2013 TDOR is an event memorializing those who have been killed as a result of anti-transgender violence, and acts to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the transgender communities.

The events keynote speaker is Allyson Robinson, West Point graduate with degrees in physics and a master's of divinity with an emphasis on social justice from Baylor University's Truett Theological Seminary. In 2008, Robinson joined HRC Foundation, where she served as their first deputy director for employee programs. In that role, Robertson supervised programming to create model LGBT diversity workplace training curricula. A longtime LGBT activist, she spends her time helping leaders and organizations discover, refine and live into their values."

Everyone is welcome. Invite others to memorialize those who have been killed do to anti- transgender violence or those who have past at their own hand, due to despair and hopelessness, as a result of homelessness, long-term unemployment or lack of medical care. Awareness of these tragic deaths will hopefully bring a concerted effort towards compassion and remedy.

There is plenty of parking. Light refreshments will be served following the vigil.

I take it

That they don't do this in your area?

This blog was not a waste...

it seems. I met someone there who had read my announcement. It is an event worth making. It is not a funeral, or a dirge, but a celebration of life. People do not live in vain, they touch other people.
