No, no, I'm not shouting "No!" at you...

And I'm not a knight who says No... Uh... Ni...

My avatar is the mathematical symbol for 'Aleph null' which I relate to for esoteric reasons that I can't seem to explain in shorter than novella length.

Only 1 person recognized it, and 2 others recognized the first character as the Hebrew letter "Aleph". The other character is simply a zero (0) to represent the 'null' part.

While I was answering questions about it, I thought about the wonderful blog by DAW asking about how we chose our names, and thought I would ask you:

How did you choose your avatar?

Was it just a whim? What is the significance of that little picture that represents YOU? And if you haven't downloaded one yet, why not?

While you're doing that, I'll try to shorten my answer to short story length and post it tomorrow.

I'd love to hear your story, and I'll bet others would too.

Color me curious!

I suffer from male pattern baldness, one of many legacies of testosterone poisoning I have to live with; but then I am living, still...

I was auburn-haired as a younger person, still keeping the skin tone and freckles, and when I found the image I use it just shouted "Me!" as soon as I saw it.

If only...

Hair color! Probably more... I have a wonderful picture of myself in my late 30s showing my auburn hair and a full Commander Whitehead beard that was brighter red with blond highlights which I often combed to show off a handlebar mustache. Wouldn't be caught dead with either now. I don't post it here for fear of frightening the horses: Also because it's on my facebook page and would reveal me.

I grew it because I looked too young. I still have a thick head of curly hair but it's salt and pepper now: about half and half.

my avatar was a gift

and I love the "I (heart) team Dorothy" t-shirt very much.

It all started with me leaving a comment saying I had a "team Dorothy" cheering me on, and next thing I knew, the T-shirt was being made ....

It's wonderful, Dorothy,

I've always admired it. And my favorite color too.

Ummm.

Ummm... I had an avatar of "me" at one point - briefly - that was what I "might" one day look like following FFS (From virtualFFS).

But, currently, I don't think I bother.

Well...

Well when I clicked on this post I certainly didn't expect to find a mention of my old blog post. (Link provided 'cause I ain't have anything better to do :P)

There isn't really much of an interesting story behind my pic. The logo on the woman's shirt is pretty familiar to any folks hereabout who know me. The logo itself is something I came up with after a LOT of trail and error. A while back I had an picture pop into my head of a woman with my logo on her shirt. It took me many a month before I finally found an image that I liked after that it really only took a few minutes to combine the two into a single image. And that's really all there is to it. No special meaning, just an image made by a random individual who likes to play around with photoshop.

Have delightfully devious day,

Thank you for posting the link.

I enjoyed a lot of your books too. ;-D

I hope some who didn't answer it the first time will add to it now.

Thanks, and I'm glad t hear you enjoy my stories too! I was rather blown away by the number of responses I got to that one. I just wish I could get that sort of response from my stories!

"You know the picture of which I speak." See note to Cyclist!

Your writing always brings a smile to my face or tears to my eyes: Either way, it's a good thing and I'm sure you have nothing to be ashamed of.

Well,

Extravagance's picture

what else would a Prawn-eating Gender-Neutral Aryan Berserker/Samurai Catboy look like? Thank you Sephy for showing us the Chibi maker. ^_^
Unfortunately my paint program distorts my edits to a degree that seems to be inversely proportional to the size of the image... You can't really see the cameltoe in his speedo, and I haven't been able to figure out the best way to incorporate "V-boy" into my title...

Your name and avatar perfectly present your expansive personality and cat-like, playful, demeanor. Do I see whiskers twitching? I'll bet you purr-r-r-r when the right person rubs your tummy.

Of course, I have a soft spot for another berserkr...

It just - spoke - to me(figuratively you understand)

Hope Eternal Reigns's picture

Believe it or not, I "borrowed" it from a porn site that isn't around anymore, so I doubt anyone will care. Besides, I'm not making any money from posting the image nor am I degrading it.

Oh, and I LOVE her eyes.

That those are very sexy (bedroom?) eyes. They seem to follow the viewer. I love the hair color too.

You add a bit of class to it, as well.

I understand "figuratively". I talk to God every day but I've told those around me, that if I ever think He's talking back to me, lock me up immediately!!!

Its me Jenn (C) see.

Well I found this avatar maker from Manga Entertainment. Her hair is white due to quite a bit of my hair on my head being that color, and not all of it is on top of my head. :( I tried to give her a Hispanic coloring but with the colors available she just looks orange. Smiles, Jenn.

You look like a very lovely and sweet Hispanic elf. Now, what could be better?

I love the look of wide-eyed innocence too. Your avatar just radiates personality!

No and no

No avatar for me. First I have no idea how to create or post one. But more importantly, I have no clue what I would use. So it will just be Rami.

Rami

RAMI

Mine's easy

My avatar is a picture I drew myself! I've also got it up in a larger size on my devart page (male name there if anyone goes, just a warning,) as well as quite a bit of other stuff I've drawn.

It's kind of a wishful-thinking thing, since it reflects what I sorta hope to look like if I ever manage to drop all my weight again and get transitioned (insurance now, so hopefully I'll be starting soon! *fingers crossed*) though I doubt I'll ever really look that nice. She's too darn short, for one thing :P

Melanie E.

I've enjoyed your pictue,Melanie...

Ole Ulfson's picture

I'm glad you posted the background. I'm sure when you complete your quest, you'll outshine the picture by a mile. A line drawing doesn't have the joy of life that you show.

We're all on a quest, aren't we?

My avatar... well... thanks

My avatar... well... thanks Sephy for her avatar generators or I still wouldn't have one. I just played around with it and well, the haircolor is cool and yellow is one of my favourite colors anyway. It doesn't really represent that much, I just had fun to create an image what I'd like to look like if I was a girl. Oh and Sandan (not quite sure what is its English name) is my favourite Pokemon and it kinda fit with the color ;)

Yours is one of the more elaborate so far, Beyogi...

Ole Ulfson's picture

Congratulations on your creativity! That's a good sign for when you start experimenting with that make-up you were asking about. The most beautiful women are those who are willing to experiment and extend their range.

Mug Shot

I didn't want to use a picture of my own mug, so I cropped a picture of my (alas, deceased) little kitty Poofter. I increased the contrast to make him show up better in the small picture, and cranked up the color saturation to bring out his green eyes and the purple background.

Since I really relate to cats, I thought it was a good choice.
