I guess 2012 wasn't done with being extremely shitty.

I went to CompUSA earlier to get a harddrive for my computer. Got back and realized that I also needed an adapter because I didn't have a cable to give the harddrive power. So went back bought a 4 dollar adapter and headed home.

Opened the door. Noticed immediately that my nice big 57 inch TV was gone. Stolen in the matter of a half an hour. I have a pretty strong idea who did it, not that it's going to matter much. Things might have been different if my friend showed up today (he gets in tomorrow) so not only do I get to not be me for the duration, I don't even have a television to divert my attention. I'm going to look for one on Amazon, but this life is growing old.

Locks!

Change your locks!

locks

You mean use my locks. Because I was making a quick run to the store and haven't made a second set of keys (I have 2 vehicles, took the one with just the car key buy itself) I didn't lock the door when i left. I thought since it was the middle of broad daylight, no issues. I will make it a living hell to live next to me. They think I'm annoyed by their vulgar filled disgusting rap music. I will drown them out with Les Miserables now every time.

Writing is what you do when you put pen to paper, being an author is what you do when you bring words to life

Use them!

Always lock up everything. Always lock your car, no matter how short a time you plan to park. Don't leave anything in plain sight in your car. Never leave your purse, wallet, or ID in the car. Don't park somewhere and put your valuables in the trunk, there are thieves watching for that so they know which cars to target.

Always lock your house, even if you're only going to be gone for "a minute". Always lock your house when you are at home. Write down all the serial and model numbers of your valuables, ON PAPER*, and put it in a safe place. When I was a kid, the locks we had on the doors couldn't be unlocked from the outside. You could open a door and go in, but the minute the door closed it was locked again. If I remember what brand they were, I'll post it. Don't leave an extra key in a safe place outside. Odds are the thief knows all those safe places and the hollow rock and all the rest of the dodges. He probably knows more than you do. Not all thieves are stupid.

Not picking on you, hon, these are things everybody should and shouldn't be doing. Maybe you you can't stop a burglar, but that doesn't mean you have to make it easy for them. Most thieves like a soft target, don't let that be you.

*(Friend of mine thought he was so smart, kept all his records on his laptop computer. Guess what was stolen?)
