This is a study detailing the unequal access to medical and other resources by the aging trans population. As is noted in the link, it is a pdf file and has some substance to it.

Transgender Aging.

I can confirm the statistics shown on one of the pages except I never planned to come out. At the time, I considered it a misfortune. But after nearly 8 years must concede that it was best for me.

I never used illicit drugs or Alcohol but was on prescription drugs for about 3 years.

I attempted Suicide twice and was hospitalized 5 times, the latest being about 5 years ago.

I don't really get along with the GBL crowd because they have thrown t folk under the bus a few times, so fuck em. So many of the groups I have been involved in seem to be all about being static in the wounded state and not about moving on and making a life for ourselves.

Those of you in the IT area seem to have the best chance of re-entering the work force after transition. As a construction/industrial electrician I never tried it again and the fact that my back was seriously injured, and they saw me as legally crazy...

This whole coming out thing is just the hardest thing anyone can do to themselves; may as well hit yourself with a hatchet. By some stroke from God, or the fates, my health care has been quite good but is generally palitive.

Hopefully, those of you crazy enough and brave enough to come out, God speed to you.
