Over the last week, I have learned that Hospice has been called in to care for my grandmother. She is in Stage 5 Kidney failure and fluid is building up in her system making it difficult for her to breathe. The diuretics she has been taking no longer work. The doctors all thought she would pass on last Summer, but she defied the odds and made it for 10 months longer. She is on high dose pain meds to keep her comfortable and I expect we will get the call sometime within the next week. I'm really saddened by her impending death because she is my last grandparent left living. When I came out as Jennifer, she didn't miss a beat in letting me know she loved and accepted me. My first Christmas as Jennifer, she sent me two really steamy Romance novels LOL! She might be 89, but she isn't a prude LOL!. I sent her a letter this week and told her how much I love her. She is not able to hear well on the phone anymore so Mom and I decided to write her letters. She had a good laugh about a memory we had together and is enjoying ribbing my Aunt about it, because she was the one it was about. My Aunt told me "Gee, Thanks a lot for reminding her about it LOL! I'm glad I was able to help her laugh. I will miss her when she goes, but I know she will no longer be in pain. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Jen your Grandmother

obviously means the world to you, That much is so very clear from the heartfelt words you have written about her, No-one likes losing anyone close to them, But as you say she will at last be free from pain, I will as you ask be thinking of you and your Grandmother ...I'm sure that she would love nothing more than for you to be happy and to live your life remembering all the good things about this very special woman who was able to see what a lovely Grand daugter she had

I hope and pray that you can celebrate her LIFE more than you will grieve her loss. Your Grandmother is one special lady.

My grandma was a special lady as well and the love for our grandparents is so good because they spoil us and then send us home to mom and dad. I will pray that her time will be peaceful and that your pain will be healed in time ---HUGS & KISSES LOVE RICHIE2

Sadly.

Sadly, I can offer no advice on grandparents, I never knew or at least I cannot ever remember any of mine.

I suppose it must be painful though to lose somebody you love. Hope you remember her life and not her death.

Hugs.

Bev.

Growing old disgracefully.
