Hello dear friends,
I'm home from the hospital. The surgery went well, I guess. There was some good news and some bad news.
I'll fill in more details later. Right now I'm going to take a nap.

Hi all, here's the details;
The good news is that surgery went well. Apparently there was only minor tearing of the maniacs along with some buffing of the cartilage where the joints fit together that needed to be done. I come home about 11:00 am and have been napping and resting. I have an appointment on Friday with physical therapist and a follow-up with the surgeon on the 3rd. If I can sit down most of the time and not have to climb the stairs I may be allowed back to work on the 7th.
The bad news is that I only have about 20% of the cartilage on the ends of the bones, where my joints fit together, that I should have. Which means I have more fun to look forward to in the future, additional repairing or full replacements. I have to keep reminding myself of something I heard once, "Getting old, is not a job for the week."
Sorry about the cliff hanger.

I have to admit, something inside me doesn't like the tone of the letter, and that "good news and some bad news" part makes me worry, but I'm very glad you're home, and I'm sending get well prayers for you!

Not that the actual problem isn't important. I can see where it would be a very serious issue. Aging sucks, doesn't it? Of course, the alternative is ,well, less than acceptable. Oh well.
I do hope you feel better soon, and I pray your recovery goes smoothly!

Glad to see that the surgery went well. My father took almost all of the cartilage out of one of his knees one night while he was at work, twisted to pick up a wrench, heard a pop, and promptly fell over... He's fixed now, and he got to watch them preform the procedure...
As for me, I think I inherited his joints as well as my mothers back (she's had a fusion done, somewhere around S4/S5/L1 and now has more money in her back than I make in four years (Not that I make that much a year, but still...) My knees almost always crack (or ache) when I crouch (which I do a lot of for work), and my back hurts about 25% of the time. My corset helps, but if it's too tight, it introduces a different sort of pain.
