Happy New Year :-)

First, to get the site business out of the way, I had hoped to have Robin posted up by now, but a mild case of food poisoning has kept me in bed. You can't keep a good author down, though. I think my muse is finally returning from her vacation, so we'll see what happens :-)

I do want to wish everyone a very happy New Year. I was going to post a blog on my two year anniversary of signing on with TopShelf;I'm only a few days late! It sounds harsh, but glad the holidays are finally over for another year.

It's supposed to be a time of celebration, of family, but it's always a time of stress around here for a number of reasons, not the least of which this year being drama with my extended family (Nothing directly involving us, at least, not any more than usual, but it just reminds me how broken this whole 'clan' is :-P)

On a lighter and more positive note, though, I've been thinking about new year's resolutions. Normally I pick something I know I'll never accomplish, usually with tongue-in-cheek, but this year I'm taking my resolution seriously: just the one.

I resolve to accept myself as I am, and to continue to seek inner peace. I'm closer to that goal now than I was two years ago, thanks in very large part to this community. For some of you, TopShelf is a place to read fiction. For a handful like me, it's an online support group.

Though I may stray sometimes, or let other things take my attention away, my heart, my home, will be here for as long as Erin has the reins. :-)

With love and respect,

~Zoe

PS: Don't worry too much about my being sick... again. I'm on the mend :-D

I've got it narrowed down

Zoe Taylor's picture

I've got it narrowed down to either the chili, the chicken, or the apple cider. The chili everyone ate, and nobody got sick from that, so that's not likely. The chicken, only I ate much of. Mom had one little piece, so that's the most likely culprit.

The apple cider started showing signs of going bad yesterday, but I thought it tasted a little funny before that. That was a few days ago though, so I'm not sure it would take 3-4 days to kick in like that.

Still, I'm a lot better now, and I'll be avoiding questionable cider just on principle from now on :-P

Old Cider

Wouldn't that be called vinegar? Apple cider vinegar would be good for you.
I have discovered in my old age that every time I eat greasy chicken (most take out) I get woofy from it. Possible sign of a gall bladder going south. It seems to happen almost ever time.
Feels just like food poisoning. That I recognize from multiple instances from eating off the office roach coach. Yes, I'd go back for more each time hoping the previous ones were isolated cases.
I feel bad for you, food poisoning is really horrible.

Missed us, thankfully!

I literally slept right through the worst of it, and didn't even realize it had rained, nevermind the lightning and wind. I was actually pretty stunned when I saw the news coverage tonight.

I mean, it's not the first time we've had tornadoes in December, but it's still jarring, especially when it snowed here Christmas Eve (Well, a few flurries, but still :-D)

Worthy Resolution

Happy New Year Zoe! Well, at least it is on this side of the Atlantic at this point anyway!

The New Years Resolution sounds very worthwhile and I hope that you achieve it in 2011.

I'm also pleased to see that your muse has returned from its own christmas vacation.
