I was hoping someone at BC could answer a question or two about the section known as 'The Rocks' and whereever Sydney's main business district is.( Where the big banks are. Is it the Rocks or another part of Sydney close to The Rocks. ). If someone can help me out, I'd appreciate it. Please PM me or leave a comment here.

Google Maps - The Rocks
Google Maps and Google Earth are wonderful visualization tools for authors, although it can be little difficult "seeing" where you are and putting things in context. This area of Sydney has a lot of "Street View" content available, so you can virtually drive around.

The Rocks is essentially a tourist precinct lots of convict era architecture, sandstone buildings and little lane ways. Shops pubs restaurants, hotels. Most of the local banks would have their larger/main branches in Pitt or George sts near Martin place, easy to see on tha map puddin posted. The Reserve Bank of Aust has its Sydney branch on Martin Place. If you want a smaller European style bank you could place it on OConnell or Bent St. Lots of Medical specialist Offices along Macquarie opposite Parliament House. The legal precinct is Philip St in those two blocks either side of Martin Place.

Krisina has answered the question precisely.The only thing that I can add is that the Rocks area is known as George Street North and is on the Western side of Circular Quay and just below the Sydney Harbour Bridge and is a most fascinating area as it was literally the birthplace of Australia.
